I'm from around the Philadelphia area and just purchased a HiChroma Red w/ black interior Stinger GT2 AWD. I traded in my 2016 WRX Limited that I had for 3 years. I didn't expect to get rid of it so fast, but, to paraphrase something an ex-girlfriend said to me, "You love the WRX, but aren't in love with it." It was time to move on from a hopped up, low-feature compact car to a smoother ride (and even more power). I'll miss the tighter handling and 6 speed manual, but everything else the Stinger offers more than makes up for it. Anyone else coming from a Subaru to the Stinger?

Awesome choice on the Stinger!!! I have driven many Subarus over the years but never got to own an AWD car myself. I must says its a dam fun time to hit a corner, stab the throttle and just shoot on through.

(Mind you, this is playing with friends on nice country backroads and not a race track, thats a different story)

Glad to hear you love your Stinger and it's always good to hear comparisons between the Stinger and other vehicles, even if they aren't supposed to be matched together, because we all know what type of cross shopping the Stinger entails. Give the Stinger about a month, get it broken in and get some good hard pulls under your belt........then go drive something else that is supposed to be 'fast'.....

It's a BIG night and day difference just how much power is available everywhere in the rev range :D:D:D

Welcome to the Hive, and congrats on your new GT2 AWD!!

Thanks! The WRX had a good amount of power with the 93 octane tune I had on it (~310 hp), but you had to work for it a bit more. The Stinger GT has a near effortless amount of power. The AWD system on the WRX was also pretty damn good, but it had a moderate front bias to it, so there was no back-end shenanigans whit it. It is quite different with the Stinger, which definitely makes it more fun.
I'm still adapting to the new car, but so far its great. I am just looking for reasons to go driving.

You're all grown up now! :p

Congrats on the car! I was the same way with my last car. It was a red 3-Series that replaced my beloved '06 Mustang. I never "loved" the 3-Series and it didn't last long before trading it in for the Stinger.

I came from a 2010 Legacy GT with Stage 1 tune (about 300 HP), Koni Yellow adjustables, Eibach 1" lowering springs, & beefed up rear sway bar. If they still made the LGT I probably would have bought another. It was a fun car, fit the family well, had better trunk space, better visibility, and had easier ingress / egress. With the MT I feel that it was more engaging to drive even though it was slower.

When it came time to purchase a new car, WRX, A4, and the Stinger were on the short list. I thought the WRX was going to be the winner but it just isn't a comfortable car. Especially to take longer trips in. Where the hell are you supposed to put your elbows to rest them? Door armrest is too low, the window sill is too high, and there is no center armrest.

I feel the stinger just wants to eat up the corners. I can really feel the diference the torque vectoring is providing in comparison to the LGT's AWD system. But with the Stinger you really can't flat foot the car for long, EVER! You end up in triple digits oh so quickly. And I really don't want to crest a hill and find a deer in the road. I hit 4 or 5 with that Subby

welcome to the hive. congrats on your stinger.

Congrat on the car! Had a legacy wagon back in the day and loved that thing, was a lot of fun. Stinger is a whole other animal though. Have fun!

Agreed about the WRX. It was great driving quickly down a winding road without any traffic, but wasn't nearly as good on any distance trip and passengers (and my dog) didn't enjoy the ride that much.

The Stinger's acceleration, especially when you get on it around 30-50 MPH, really surges. I'm going to have to explore its cornering ability some more. It definitely moves around them well!

One of the things I have noticed is the power this car has really approaches what is actually usable on public roads. I don't know if I could really enjoy more power than this without fearing for tickets and things on the road.

Welcome my friend. nice cars. Now you have one even better. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard and congratulation on the upgrade

I traded my cobb tuned 2015 WRX for an AWD GT2. I like the Stinger better in almost every way especially the power and RWD bias. Stinger could be stiffer suspension and more tortional rigidity, more durable paint. WRX was better on those three.

I'm not sure about the paint at this point, but I definitely agree with you there. The WRX came with this awful herky jerky tune that gave way too much throttle when you first touched the gas. Also, the rev hang between 2nd and 3rd made smooth shifts really difficult. I had to get the accessport to fix those issues. My wife was never so happy I spent $650 for a go faster part.

I did like the agressive throttle response but it was a bit too much. To the point that half throttle was full throttle. I had the CVT which was actually pretty good when it worked correctly which was not often. Had some software issues.
