Wireless Charging Pads in US Stingers

To each their own! Some people buy this $325,000.00 pen!

People never stop amazing me in all kinda ways

Is that such a difficult thing to believe? It's an entire OEM car part that also has to be shipped from a third-party reseller. Wireless charging is incredibly convenient, so if you can have it, why not get it? It doesn't seem that difficult to install, either!

It is, considering you can get a charging cable for $7 nowadays. Is it really that difficult to plug it in? Not my money so have at it, the economy thanks you.

Those thinking these prices are high should ask for price of these to official kia dealership and they would be shocked as it would cost them an arm and a leg. Stinger is not cheap low quality car costing 5k, it has a lot of goodies and you can't expect parts to be dirt cheap. Wireless charger pad is not just a piece of plastic but it probably has some complicated wiring and electronics.
Keep these facts in mind when you think about the price.

You also have the added convenience of not using up plug inserts on your phone. All USB ports are rated for a certain amount of inserts, the less you insert a cable, the longer it will last, decreasing the possibility of needing to repair your phone in the future, which, if not in warranty anymore, can cost a hundred or two. That + the incredible convenience of wireless charging is worth it if your phone supports it, IMO.

I love the idea of wireless charging but (correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't the implementation of apple play or android auto negate having a wireless charger? You can't have the phone plugged in and have it charging wirelessly....

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Good catch, was actually reading up on android auto, didn't realize that it was updated to allow a wireless connection. My only experience with it was wires, very cool stuff

That's not what he said. You can have the phone plugged in *and* also charging on the wireless charging pad and it will work fine with AA while also charging wirelessly.

No car right now has built-in wireless Android Auto support, so that's not applicable.

This generally isn't for using with AA/CarPlay, it's for using it to charge your phone. I personally don't use AA or CarPlay so this is very appealing to me.

$300+ just to charge your phone wirelessly!?!? You guys are nuts!

I'll tell you who! Some guy (me), who stupidly tried to plug in one of those fan things meant for an iphone into his (my) Samsung S6. Now I can't plug my phone in to charge cause the port is broken, I have to use wireless charging. I know what you're thinking, why not get a new phone?! I'll tell you why... I'm taking this phone to my grave. I'll spend 1 billion dollars making my phone currently work as is, instead of buying a new phone. Take that Verizon wireless!!! I win!!

Why not just switch carriers? T-Mobile is great in LV.

Not so much. My wife and two daughters switched from t-mobile about a year ago. Their customer service was decent, but the service itself wasn't reliable. It's all carriers in my mind. They sell you the latest and the greatest and then a year or so later somehow, someway, the phone doesn't act like it use to. I believe it's intentional.

That didn't likely have anything to do with T-Mobile. If they got mid or bottom-tier Android phones, it's going to be like that. Even flagships don't last a year or two. If you want something long term, you need a Pixel or iPhone.

I was in LV twice last year and both times I had stellar service the entire time.

10 years old "stupid phones" still work and are more reliable then new ones. It's their stupidity that keeps them from breaking down or becoming
"outdated". New phones work for a few years and when they can't handle the new operational systems and applications anymore and they are for trash unless you delete everything and use them for calling and texting only.

Are this wireless charging pad is also fast charging or not?

I have the $7 cable when I installed the unit that covers the cup holders (since I do not own a wireless charge phone). My cable is hidden since I ran the cable to my center console storage unit.

I remember when I thought it was cool that I could plug my bag-phone into the cigarette lighter.

I installed the Korean wireless charging option late last year (actually the car stereo guys did the install). To me it came down to the absolutely stupid way the factory put in the standard power ports. They are dead center in the opening without the non-operating charging bay to the side. There just is no way to set the phone into the area, plug it in to power AND shut the door(at least, easily). With the recharging upgrade, the cable ports are now to the left, giving the phone a nice cubby hole to sit. AND yes, it is a fast charger. Phone is hidden under the door, charging away.

And while I was at it, I added the door optiin for the cup holder. Now the console is closed up and clean looking. Hint, you have to order TWO part numbers to get the door; the actual console assembly AND the cups themselves. The old cups will not fit.

And, while we were at it, I had the install put a 12V port and USB (charging only) inside the center console (for my wireless earbuds)

Kia cheap parts finally updated to have parts available for the 2019 stinger, but I don't see the wireless charger listed. Same part number from 2018 to 2019 and only variation is gloss black vs aluminum trim.
