Wireless Apple Car Play

Hi all,
I see quite a few cars that now have wireless Apple Car Play and was wondering whether the current Stinger could be modified to do this rather than having to have a USB connection. Could some form of software download be an option?

As far as I know, there is no software available but I do have this & it works great.

I've been using the CPLAY2air adapter for just over a month and it has been working well for me following an initial firmware update of the adapter. I've only had one glitch and it seemed like it rebooted and came back on after about 30 seconds.

Thanks for that. I took a look at both devices and they seem to have good reviews. It looks like the Cplay2air is more widely available at the moment. Appears to be ~AUD 180 and the delivery timeframe doesn’t seem too bad. I think I might go for this.

Only works wireless if you have an iPhone, if you are an Android fan like me.. there is not a wireless dongle available yet, you still have to Plug it in..

How’s the lag? I heard it can be pretty bad.

Any lag is not really noticeable to me. It has randomly disconnected on me once or twice but comes back on it's own.

Just make sure you upgrade the firmware first thing. I've updated twice and the current code seems stable. No glitches since.

I have Cplay2air and the phone lags for me a bit...about a 2 second delay. Not horrible but annoying for sure.

When you say the phone lags, do you mean during calls? Or also during other operations? And have you upgraded the firmware?

Only lags during phone calls. I will try updating the firmware and hopefully that helps. That's the only negative thing I have to say about it so if that fixes it, then I'm a happy man. Thanks for the tip!

I never experienced a lag issue, but the first thing I did was update my unit's firmware. It definitely made the unit connect and initialize faster. No other issues noted with my unit.

Yeah I updated it when I first got it but didn't think to update it again so that's my bad. I just updated it and it definitely helped but there's still a short delay between when I speak and when they hear me. Not a big deal and I can live with it. Thanks again

Received my device today. Plugged it into the USB and it started up. I thought I would check for any upgrades, there was one, so I ran that upgrade. It showed as 100% completed. But now when I plug it into the USB port, nothing happens. it won’t even recognise any device being connected to the USB port,
I must be being a bit thick - any ideas?

honestly, sounds like the update failed and it bricked the device.

Send the company an email/message with your issue they should be able to give you some tech support or advise what you can do.

Whilst waiting for the company to respond to my email, I tried playing around with it a bit more but not really getting any further. I do notice though that there is a blue light that illuminates when plugged into a USB port but I’ve read that there should be a red light too, which I’m not getting. Hmmm, very frustrating..

Is yours the car2play or carlinikit 2.0, I have the latter & no issues, I’m running an old 2016 iPhone SE that has up to date iOS.
