Winter Tires - Which brand have you liked - AWD 2022 Stinger

Crappy Tire has CRW times on same right now that are 18*8 direct fit. I use them on my car. Look sick. Sometimes I think I might just get another set so I can put my Summers on.

Not sure I'd trust a place named "Crappy Tires"

so it's like Tractor Supply Co.?

Getting a set of Firestone Winterforce 2 (non-studded) from my local Firestone dealer that undercut TireRack's price. 235/45/18. I wanted a little wider tire (normally narrower is better for deep snow) so I wouldn't give up as much dry and wet traction, and also a little taller sidewall (.4" taller in diameter than the 225/45/18) for absorbing pothole impacts better. I've used a wide variety of winter tires over the years, but first time trying Firestones.

I've had this local shop mount my online tire purchases 3 times before, and they did it flawlessly on my aftermarket wheels and for a good price. I figured I'd actually buy a set of tires this time from them. Gotta show some love once in awhile to the places near you too. :)

Nice, stud-able!

First of all, I got new 18" rims and went with KIA's advised 225 45 R18 square setup. I have RWD so not sure if this applies for the AWD.
My first set was Pirelli Sottozero 3. They lasted 2,5 winters (40-45k km). In terms of grip and feel I would recommend them BUT, they were insanely hard to balance and wore out pretty unevenly.
So, today, I just received my new winter set - Michelin Pilot Alpin 5. Hope they will be better all-round than the Pirellis.
I'm switching to winters this Saturday :)

Curious how these will do. I couldn't find enough reviews and with the price didn't want to be a guinea pig haha.

I’ve had Pirelli Sottozerros on my last Corvette in the stock tire sizes. They worked pretty well except in some slushy situations, but that was mostly an issue of the 285 width. I also found they started to get slippery at under minus 27 deg Celsius (rubber was starting to harden).

On the Subaru BRZ and STi that I had I had Hakka R2s ( I think the current ones are R3s). They worked great in the snow and cold weather. I found that until I had a season on them they were slippery on dry pavement. After that dry pavement traction got really good….go figure!

For my 2022 Stinger,Elite (19 inch rims) I’m going with Kia’s recommendation of 225/45 R18s all around mounted on Kia accessory alloy rims. Tires are Michelin X-Ice.
Do you have the part # for the "Kia accessory alloy rims"? How about a pic?

Here you go. There are 2 options from KIA:

The specs are 8.0Jx18" ET34.
Recommend Tyre Size: 225/45 R18

For mine I bought a set of MSW 8.0Jx18" ET30 which look fairly similar and were about 30% cheaper. If I were to have the choice again, I would go for the KIA originals.

I do not have a part number, as they were included in the car purchase. But here are couple of pictures (taken in the rain).

I think those wheels are a Canadian exclusive (for KIA that is) - They are made by FAST, with KIA center caps. FC08's (I have the same ones, I just coloured the centre caps)

I asked the Kia dealer for the part number today (I was dropping my car off for the door handle fix). The part number he gave me is 1007526 - 18 inch and they are either Fastco or DAI. The parts manager couldn’t remember which, but did note they were hard to get.

Those "Kia accessory rims" look pretty decent.

I'm a huge fan on Nokian tires when it comes to winter. Whether you go with their WRG4 all weather tire for year round use, or one of their dedicated winter tires, I think that Nokian make the best winter tires on the market. With my bias fully exposed, I can tell you that I'm going into my 4th winter running Nokian R3s on 18" rims. They have been absolutely great and still have tons of tread left on them. As usual when I chime in on a winter tire thread, here's the link to my original post about my winter setup when I got them back in 2018:
