As title says. Pretty excited about receiving my 2022 and I'll be driving up to the mountain lots this year, just wondering which winter tires you've liked and disliked.

I plan on putting them on the stock wheels, until I can afford to upgrade with sexy aftermarket wheels!

Thanks!

Michelin X-Ice, and Nokian Hakkapeliitta always get great reviews, I am running the X-ices ATM, next go around I'll prolly do hakka's just to try for myself. Check with your dealer, they often offer some good packages, mine is currently offering 18's with tires, TPMS, nuts, and 1st year of storage for $2399/ Alloys & $1799/steelies (18x 225 on all corners) I'm not sure if you want or can run the same size tire on the factory rims so going to 18/225's could save you money in the long run.

Toyo observe ice.

Hakkapeliitta is one brand I have used in the past and it was excellent. Gripped well in snow and ice. I’ve also used Michelin X-Ice and it got me through the big DC snow storms, which we named snow-maggedon and car-maggedon. I’m sure the compound had been improved over the years so the newer versions should perform better. Hakka’s were hard to source which is why I went to Michelin, either brand will work.

Been running General Altimax Arctics since 2010 both studded and unstudded. Both styles haven't let me down. Running unstudded arctic 12 on the stinger last year and they worked great, a little numb in the dry though but thats to be expected of a snow tire.

Would you recommend going with the staggered tire size or going to the same all 4 corners. I don't think I want to buy steelies or new wheels with purchasing winter tires.

Absolutely, go the same on all 4 corners that way you can rotate them to maximize the lifespan, just not sure if it's possible on the stock rims

Another +1 for "same all 4 corners" (squared).

Unless you have a shop that can change out your tires for free, I'd recommend getting a spare set of wheels that you can dedicate to winter (all seasons in my case). You can buy new or perhaps snag a set of OEM 18s, maybe someone will sell it real cheap?

Also from what I read, the narrower your tires, the better traction on up to a few inches of snow. Thicker snow then you'd probably want studded tires.

I’ve had Pirelli Sottozerros on my last Corvette in the stock tire sizes. They worked pretty well except in some slushy situations, but that was mostly an issue of the 285 width. I also found they started to get slippery at under minus 27 deg Celsius (rubber was starting to harden).

On the Subaru BRZ and STi that I had I had Hakka R2s ( I think the current ones are R3s). They worked great in the snow and cold weather. I found that until I had a season on them they were slippery on dry pavement. After that dry pavement traction got really good….go figure!

For my 2022 Stinger,Elite (19 inch rims) I’m going with Kia’s recommendation of 225/45 R18s all around mounted on Kia accessory alloy rims. Tires are Michelin X-Ice.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm trying to save money on not having to buy wheels specifically for winter tires, as I want to change the stock wheels for an aftermarket eventually and have the stock ones for my winter set.

How much would it cost you to swap stock with winter tires though?

Tire rack has good vids of all these tires and which were the best performers. Blizzak is too, but there are 2 or 3 that are neck and neck effectively and the next tires down have a much bigger performance gap.

Came here hoping someone was running these. I just got my setup off the UPS truck a couple days ago. They look like they should bite the snow good. What size do you run 225/45/18? I did 235/45.

I ran Goodyear Ultra Grips on my last car and they worked great.

Had X-ice before that and was not a fan of their performance in the deeper snow.

Not snow tires, but I had DWS06's on my TBSS and those worked pretty good in the snow too, surprisingly.

As a side note- I highly recommend discount tire direct. I've used them twice now for winter packages. They have phenomenal customer service, easy rebate claims, and have been a few hundred cheaper than Tire Rack. They seem to have more/cheaper wheel options, from what I can tell. Just my .02.

I did 235/45r18 on the stinger. Was going to do 225 but wasn't available at the time.

Yea I thought 225 originally, but 235 was the recommended width for a -1 setup, with the wheel/tire combo I did.

I run bridgestone blizzak WS90 for winters. Went down a size to 18" non-staggered, easier to rotate, more sidewall, and better for winter overall

Same reasons for me too. I normally go down to 17's, but they don't clear the Brembos apparently.

Yeah there is no way 17s will clear the brakes. as is there are likely lots of 18s that wouldnt clear.

Crappy Tire has CRW times on same right now that are 18*8 direct fit. I use them on my car. Look sick. Sometimes I think I might just get another set so I can put my Summers on.
