Will the OEM Hood Fit in the Trunk??

Hi all!

I'm looking to purchase a carbon fiber hood, and because I'm a loner I have no way of transporting the factory hood back with me from the shop (80 miles away) back to LA....

Has anyone who replaced the hood been able to fit the hood in the trunk space?

Or do you guys think there's a chance in might??

Soooo. Ummm. Get a tape measure. Measure the widest parts of your hood (length/width).

Now go to your trunk. Open it. Put the seats down. Pull out your tape measure. And see if it will fit................. angled as well as straight in.

And honestly... your never gonna put the OEM back on. It won’t change resale later whether you have it or not. Have the place your are buying it at put it on ebay or something. Or donate it to the trash pile.

I plan on using the OEM during the winter months no sense in beating up the carbon fiber at minus 20.

Agreed. I could understand if we were talking about used oil, windshield wipers, brake pads, etc... But a hood? Who would throw an OEM hood in the trash? Lmao.

Yes it should fit. The hood is not wider than the cabin, because of the interior panels you may have to have the hood at an angle both front to back and side to side.

Try making a template of your hood out of cardboard. Do a dry run first to see...

I've thought about a carbon fiber hood... I think it would look nice - a nice contrast to the red... I even considered wrapping the hood in black... plus it saves a few pounds... I doubt the cold will be a factor...

just drive your car to the shop without a hood... I drove my car without a hood for 2 about a month or more while my hood was bing made. (Different car) Freeway and city driving lol

I am pretty sure it will not fit, the opening is much narrower than the hatch, and even tilted at an angle, it would be too long to get into the space at an angle and then lower it down.

I like Jay's idea, but I expect the new one will require transferring a lot of hardware from yours, so you'd need to know exactly what in advance.

Id say any brackets and bolts that come with the OEM hood.

I drove in front Of CHP and cops and never got pulled over. Also, car was modified and stood out lol. its the best route and itll only be a one way without the hood.
