Will a tuned 2.0 ever approach stock 3.3 power?

It would be really hard to be "right there" considering the GT has twin turbos. Getting to that 4.7 0-60 would be extremely challenging.

There are more of us 2.0 owners that have modded their cars than you think. I added a JB4, intake, custom exhaust, and the car moves like a sonofagun now. Way more response and power.

Where are you guys hiding?o_O I've been looking everywhere.

How much was it for the custom exhaust by the way?

That's what I'm saying! Ya'll 2.0 folks are too quiet, probably off enjoying the extra power lol. Gotta rise up!

Let us see these 2.0L builds!

Got it!

KBB shows a 2018 Base 2.0 trade in value around $21K-23K ( i just made up some random 12K miles with very good condition). Then more and more used GTs are showing up under $30K. Trade it for a used GT?

That's definitely something I'm going to keep in mind, but I will probably still check out a JB4 for now and see what kind of difference it makes. Even if it doesn't make much difference on the 2.0, I can hold onto it to use on the 3.3. Again, I think I'd settle for a cheap(ish) way to get somewhere near 300hp so long as it also solves the turbo lag issue. I'd hoped playing around w/ the JB4 settings would help w/ that, but doesn't seem to be the case per @Yemen's report.

I do appreciate all the info ya'll are providing and I hope more 2.0 users come out of the woodwork and share their builds/thoughts/experiences so we can share in some of the fun the 3.3 guys are having.

I haven't tried a lot of runs so probably could do better, best run with Racechip GTS was 5.71 seconds 0-60 using launch control. I've seen professional car reviews quote times of 5.9-6.6 for 0-60 times but my car is more like in the 7's stock.

Had my car on a dyno last year stock was around 200 hp at the wheels, and 230ish with the Racechip. Seen dyno's for other tunes and they are all pretty similar. No way you're going to get even close to stock GT without a bigger turbo and other significant mods.

I had an aftermarket intake, but didn't feel like it added power just noise so I took it off.

I've considered aftermarket exhaust but then I'll see a Civic or other 4 banger with a loud fart can/weed eater exhaust and come to my senses. A neighbor has a BRZ or 86 and he must think his exhaust sounds awesome because he revs every time he drives by my home but I just feel sorry for him. I don't want to be that guy.

Got the BMS pedal tuner a couple weeks ago and that is a must have for a 2.0. Helps a lot with the lag. Amber setting with a tune seems to be the sweet spot for all around drive-ability and responsiveness. In all around driving the power on demand feels good with this combo.

That's really good to hear that the pedal tune + chip reduced the turbo lag. I agree about the exhaust, which is why if I got anything at all, I would probably lean toward something w/ EVC so that I could just have some added sound on demand rather than all the time (basically OFF every time I'm in my neighborhood for instance).

I feel like I'm making way more than 230 to the wheels. I've had two competitive races against a modded WRX and a modded Accord v6 on boostane, in which I lost by about 2 car lengths. Ima have it on a dyno next month see what number's I'm really making.

$200 for the Magnaflow mufflers from Summit Racing and $240 for the install which included 2.5 inch piping from axle back.

While I haven't had a chance to run against a Stinger GT, I was behind an Infinity Q50 Red Sport at a light, which should match up pretty close to a GT. When it launched on green I gave it a go. It wasn't even funny how much faster that car was.

Maybe, going 8% grade downhill, plus an 80 mph tailwind...

Kind of skipped most of the replies, but when I see these kinds of questions (and I mean in general as I've run into on other vehicles/platforms, too), the amount of money in modding to approach the "next" engine level of performance usually completely washes out the price difference while reducing reliability. Manufacturers are wholly aware of what they're making, and I guarantee Kia's engineers knew that the difference would be significant enough to warrant a decent price gap.

I get you want to make it faster, but the time and money you'll spend would have gotten you a GT if you're questioning whether mods are going to make your 2.0T a 3.3TT equivalent, lol

I mean we're not just gonna leave the car stock, might as well have fun with it.

Guess you'll have to forgive me, I'm new to the whole concept of car mods. Been lurking here for a while and just wanted to know how good the 2.0 could get compared to the stock 3.3. I conceded that the answer was probably not real close, but I also wanted to hear from 2.0 owners who have mods.

Well, if you're more into modding, you can make a 2.0T as fast as you want if you have enough money and smoke some unsuspecting 3.3TTs. But referencing the 3.3TT as the bar for where you want to reach immediately begs the question of whether that's even worth it or not. In the case of the Stinger, it honestly isn't. If you want the power of the 3.3TT, you basically should have bought one, lol :p (I skimmed some replies this time and see I'm not the only one saying this, hahaha!)

I haven't dug into the numbers but based on the tidbits I have seen, I would wager a guess that it would cost at the very least the price difference between a 2.0 to get up to 3.3 performance. In order to get to that point, you've now compromised long term reliability by pushing more boost, added an intercooler, louder exhaust, amongst other things.
