Planning on getting a squared setup w/ 19 x 8.5 +35 wheels and 255/35R19 tires. Will this clear the front or do I need spacers? I've seen 245 widths on some Stingers so I wasn't sure if 255 is too much.
First time buying wheels/tires so thanks in advance! **2021 GT2 AWD w/ Eibach lowering springs **1000010622.webp

Yes i fitted my 255 rear tyres onto my front wheels and fitted 275's to my rear wheels, the stance is now perfect IMHO especially since i stood the camber up in the rear.

Anyone wanna by some 225's with 6000km's on them:sneaky:

who would want used tyres.....

Pretty stupid changing tyre sizes

I presume your speedo is now out.

We've been running 245/40R18 and 255/40R18 square on 18x8.5's for a while now. The only one I ran into a bit of fitment issue was on a Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 A 245/40R18 with extra thick rim protector band. It sticks out way more than any tire I've seen. On the outside the protector is great for preventing curb rash, but on the inside it rubs my coilover even when the offset was adjusted to 35mm. Once adjusted to 32mm, the tire cleared... just.

All other tires we have, clearance was no issue, even at 38mm offset. Chances are, your setup should be fine, but do pay attention to the tire you planning on buying.

Lots of people buy used tires or wheel/tire combos, for example when people trade out their perfectly good stock sets for aftermarket. And tons of people change both wheel and tire sizes.

The stock combo of 225/40 and 255/35 is nearly identical in diameter, about 0.1" difference in height. Going to 275/30 increases that to about 0.5" (on the short side, or about the same on the tall side if you go 275/35), so a little over 1mph difference at 60mph.

A 285/30 would be even closer, about 0.3" difference and less than 1mph at 60, but that's getting pretty chunky for an 8.5" wheel.

I have no problem buying used tires, if tread depths are nearly full and the DOT date code on them are less than 20 months old. There are companies that specialize in used and take-off tires, many of which are matched set of four from totaled vehicles with very few miles on them, for cents on the dollar. Of course there are risks involved, but it isn't too difficult to minimizes them by choosing judiciously, so you don't end up with somebody's beat-up old heat-cycled junk.

On the flip side, I myself have driven brand new vehicles I just purchased from the dealer lot straight to the local tire store and traded the OEM tires for aftermarket ones I really wanted. I've also taken OEM wheels/tires off my new car, before I even left the dealer lot, and sold them nearly new. Did just that with the '21 G70 6MT we bought a few yrs ago. Sold them to a local Stinger owner in less than a week.

I think manufacturers, like Kia, put a fair bit of thought into tyres. Didn't they have Continental for a while and now Michelin. It's about buying 2000 tyres a day for the production line and there must be a price component BUT, they could also put the cheapest tyres on they can find and they don't

I wouldn't put used tyres on for many reasons.

They have already assumed the profile of the car they came off. Show me any car with perfect wear on all parts of a tread.

They have already been on and off rims they don't have to be.

Not for me.

I put a set of used 255s on some 19x9" +32 up front

Just happened to pop by, this is my current setup. I’m AWD. Thinking about getting 5mm spacers just for the extra poke in the rear, and more clearance up front.
