I came from 2012 Camaro 2SS/RS to a GT2/AWD Stinger. Because baby
.
Originally I was going to go ahead with a 2017 Chevy SS since it would essentially be like stepping into a 4-door Camaro with more usable space. Plus the Chevy SS came only with the LS3, regardless of whichever transmission you chose. My automatic Camaro was the L99 which, while a great engine and a lovely decel pop every now and then, was annoying as hell whenever active fuel management (AFM) engaged and shut down half the cylinders. The car sounded like it was coughing when AFM first activated or deactivated, and had a farting spree when only on four cylinders -- not a lovely sound or feeling. But I digress, lol.
I had gone to the Chevy lot one Sunday afternoon with my wife, so as not to be hassled by the dealer (my County does not allow vehicle sales on Sundays). We got out of the Camaro and my wife said to me "you want to trade THIS...for THAT??!," to which I replied "well, yeah, it's virtually the same car with lots more luxury features, magnetorheologic suspension control, and it's a sleeper!," to which she replied "...I'll be in the car." And that was the end of my Chevy SS experience, lol. I was pretty ticked off since the car will never be made again as GM closed Holden's factory, but I guess it was not meant to be. That exhaust note on the SS is blissful, though.
Love my Stinger, though!
I think a lot of people who would otherwise have gone the SS route are looking at the Stinger as a viable option. I am curious if anyone has gotten the tail end of the AWD to slide on demand. I felt confident buying the AWD model after seeing the SEMA video, but have come to find out that the presenter apparently misspoke about all those cars being AWD
. I've yet to really push it since I passed 600 miles but a few days ago.
