The rush you get when stepping on the throttle is relative to what your used to. When I first test drove the Stinger GT2, I was blown away by the power. This continued for the first few months of ownership. I couldn't imagine needing more power. In fact after my first test drive, I think I had a headache from being thrown back into the seat. Well low and behold after several months it wasn't enough, and then I moved on to the piggy back chip. After a few months that wasn't enough. Needless to save I crave acceleration, not necessarily driving at high speed, however I would love to do that on the Autobahn one day. It's on my bucket list. The feeling of being thrown back into the seat, hearing the noise from the exhaust, and passing other cars with ease is addicting like a drug, and once you have it, you want more. At least that's my condition, and what I now realize is that adding another 50 hp with an ECU tune, over what I have with my 400 whp piggyback chip, is not going to cut it. I want that feeling of being thrown back into my seat not just from 0-40 as the Stinger offers, but from 0-100, let's say. In order to capture that from 0-100, I need a car that can run in the mid 10s, if not faster. The only way I see that happening with the Stinger is bigger turbos and more engine mods to support that. The whp I want is in the 600 range. I still love the Stinger, don't get me wrong, and I prefer it's looks over the Audi RS3, but in the next 2-3 years when I'm considering another car, unless Stinger can offer the power I want, then I might look elsewhere. Here's to hoping that the tuning gets to the point where this car can reliably put down 600hp to the wheels and the exhaust has the sounds that I crave (e.g burbles, pops and crackles). When it comes to the torque, the 500 lb-ft with the Racechip is awesome. I now only drive in Sports mode, RC on the highest map, with the throttle response on Race mode via the RC XLR, unless I have passengers. But then again, it's not enough.

Lol. I totally understand getting used to the power. It took me most of a year before I finally anticipated accurately what this engine will do: combined with knowing how to use the go pedal with optimum effect. At first I thought that maybe my engine was losing a bit of torque or something. No. It's just me getting thoroughly adapted to the car.

But the car remains exactly what I wanted when I bought a brand new car, never intending to do that in the first place. Practical, stylish, comfortable performance. It's all there. I can pass fast anytime I want or need to. Nothing has changed.

The difference between us is that my "system" can handle the "drug" (adrenalin) and not crave more. I can let it go. You, my friend, are exhibiting the symptoms of an addiction! (and, at the same time, not funny at all:unsure:).

I never wanted burbles and pops and crackles (or the "SNAP" that follows too many times enjoying those things). The sound of a V8 is a gorgeous music. But I don't need to own the source of it.

True true. I’m addicted and loving it!!!

Wouldn't you be able to get a more violent launch if you were able to get the launch control RPM up from 2500 to like 4500 so it can build boost? I think that's why most BMW M performance and M vehicles have that violent jerk when you use launch control. Not sure how you'd override the stock launch control RPM though.

Launch Control is for 'fraidy cats: just push smooth and fast to the kickdown switch.

With my piggyback RC I'm getting 500 lb-ft of torque, at very low RPMs, and with my XLR throttle response in Racemode where 10% throttle input feels like 50% throttle output is perfect when accelerating from 0-40, however I want that continue beyond 40mph to say 100mph. In order to get that you need a lot more whp combined with less weight.

Here you go

For those of you who actually want more noise, specifically v8 exhaust - check out SoundRacer from Oz. This thing has the added benefit of not offending the locals or LEOs.

Based on the poll results showing that just over 50% of the respondents feel, as I do, that no matter what HP you go to, you will eventually get used to it and want more, it seems I’m not the only one with an addiction. Not surprising because who buys a car with an unnecessary amount of power if they aren’t ever going to drive it spirited. We buy these cars because of the power and the way it makes us feel and therefore we all have that addiction, rush or whatever to choose to call it to varying degrees. ;)

Just go buy the Jeep TrackHawk if you have the $$$.

It’s a huge engine on a square box. Doesn’t have the finesse of a sedan or a Stinger. Now if I was in the market for a powerful SUV I would consider it. But on the other hand how many miles will it last compared to the other high performance SUVs.

I would call it a "working class" mans performance SUV, only because its cheaper than X5M, X6M, Cayenne Turbo, etc. If I was on a fixed salary and NEEDED a performance SUV, I would go TrackHawk. If I was rich AF? I would buy the TrackHawk and X5M lol. And I don't know about reliability but if I were a betting man, Jeep > Euro. I just figured if you ever get the chance to test drive the TrackHawk, that will put you back into your seat and intoxicate you lol

Yeah..... I was happy with my Cutlass.... 450 flywheel HP on the dyno should be enough for anyone, right? But after getting the stinger, now I'm planning to dump (at least) another $10K on another engine build.
At least there's no mystery on where the money goes in our house. My wife just needs to open the door to the garage.

As for the poll, I'm actually still happy with the stinger's power level after a year and about 7k miles. I think the key thing is I've done all the typical bolt-ons (intercooler, velossa, jb4), and there's too much traffic, cops and intersections around here to make full use of the car.

My threshold is "You have to think really carefully before putting the pedal all the way down". Unlike, say, my '02 Lincoln LS, as much as I love it, you can floor it any time you damn well please.

I will not say it is too much, but I almost feel like I now have more power than I can typically use. And that's how I like it! Now, I can't keep my foot on the pedal very long because I'm way over the speed limit before I know it.

I've gotten to the point where I always want to have this on sport mode b/c it feels so good. for reliability/durability, I just want a true ecu tune to get me to 425-450 whp. I'm already having a hard time finding places to unleash what i already have with the jb4. But if people were wanting a 10 second car from the stinger, you bought the wrong car...

Is the car able to handle 450 whp with stock suspension and not blowing the turbos? Sounds like a lot to add 200 hp without upgrading internals.... and even then why not just buy a stock 600 hp car?

450whp is already happening. I'm talking about ecu tuned 450whp, not piggyback trickery. opened engine block pics show forged rods in the stinger. I think most would agree that the stinger drivetrain is pretty over built for it's stock power levels.

Wow - what are you spending your $$ on?
