Where does this car rank for you personally?

20190215_095813.webp 20181118_191044.webp I have had 2016 camaros SS Audi s6 current Porsche 981 Audi R8 V10 plus and my Stinger GT2 is my all time favorite car, yes you heard it right..Its super fast, quiet inside, comfortable, awesome design, awesome audio, uncommon on the roads, did not pay an arm or a leg for it, has it all does it all Sexy Sports Gran turismo.

The cars I've owned are in the signature. My impressions after a 3-day test drive with a 2018 GT:
  • Cabin noise 1/5. High tire/road noise, moderate traffic noise, low wind noise.
  • Ride quality 4/5. Good ride, not too firm, soaks bumps well.
  • Driving position 5/5. Great driving position, engaging, comfortable seats.
  • Drive train 5/5. Amazing engine and tranny.
  • Fun factor 4/5.
Reasons to buy: best bang for the buck, looks great, underdog.
Reasons not to buy: noisy, noisy, noisy.

Reasons not to buy: noisy, noisy, noisy.
You've made it clear in at least two places now that noise is your deal breaker. Find a quieter car that is just as much fun and bang for the buck. Let us know what model that is.

I understand you are irritated that I dare criticizing a car you love - and in at least two places. But I'm only doing it because I like it so much. So, please, let's stay friendly and welcoming.

Besides, I only had one criticism. Other posts had an entire list :)

Yes indeed: I don't like being told that my subjective acceptance of an acceptable noise level is somehow wrong because a scientific method (old school) fanatic uses a decibel meter. :p But I have a thick enough skin. I can take it. Welcome, again. I thought your introduction post was superb (I repeat). :)

Clearly you give the Stinger high marks in everything else. Work on the tires, and see if Michelin equipped cars sound quieter. If they do and your meter says otherwise, then toss the meter (this time). You won't be sorry!

I agree with the ratings...not the quietest car in the world but by no means the worst. Hands down the best car I've owned! Fun aspect outweighs the negatives by a wide margin.

GenesisG70...I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing that garage of yours

It doesn't quite turn heads or start conversations like my 86 Grand National with a custom 2-tone paint job did, and it's not as rare or as fast in a straight line as my 87 WE4 was, and it's not as nimble as my old third gen Camaro with autocross mods, and doesn't attract attention from the opposite sex like my truck did, and it doesn't go as far on the interstate without having to stop for gas as some more boring cars I've had in the past. But it's such a great combination of performance, looks, handling, comfort, practicality and dependability that it's easily my favorite of everything I've owned so far.

what a phenomenal garage !!

The Stinger is my second car, bought a Cooper S 11 years ago, tuned it up and babied it every single year, best go kart ever ! The Stinger is definitely an upgrade in every way !

I think the road noise thing is heavily influenced by the road surfaces in your area. The area that I live in has terrible roads, the snow plows make the road very rough and performance tires added into the equation make for awful road noise. Every once in a while I hit a smooth newly paved road, and the car is nice and quiet, don't get me wrong, this platform wasn't designed to be ultra quiet.

I'd say overall the NVH is average on this car, it's not great, but it's not terrible. They had to cut costs somehow, and I'm happy they chose to do it in that place.

Two tone paint job on a GN? Say it ain't so!

Coming from a stable of Mustang's (including a '69 Mach 1, '95 Cobra and '16 GT), along with previous cars of a '14 SHO, '71 Datusn 240-Z, '04 SRT-4, '69 Nova SS, '17 Fusion Sport, '02 Cobalt SS/SC, '10 Camaro V6, etc., I have to say that the Stinger GT is the best car I've owned.

It's certainly the fastest car, and among the sharpest looking and best handling (including Winter driving).

It was similar to the 1982 GN factory 2-tone paint scheme:

The fender badges were removed and replaced with painted-on versions that I liked a lot. What I wasn't crazy about was the purple and white checkered flag painted on the hood. I thought it was tacky as hell. When I bought the car I planned on having it re-painted to remove it, but everyone else seemed to like it so it stayed.

-As others have mentioned, the type of tires on the car will make a huge difference.
-The hatch cover makes a huge difference in noise reduction. Drive it with, and without it to hear for yourself.
-2018 models have piped in exhaust sound, and no option to to be turn off completely. 2019 has "off" option.

If all else fails, I've heard a rumor there's a gently used, near perfect Stinger somewhere in Utah, that might be for sale when the Federation Orange Stinger comes out for sale. ;)

Agreed, I always change the stock tires to something non run flat or with better NVH rating and usually it does makes a noticeable difference.

Yup, makes sense.

It's interesting you say this, the car had 3 choices for the exhaust sound, under Custom drive mode: Enhanced, Normal and Minimized. To be honest, I could still hear the drone even when in Minimized mode. Hopefully the 2019+ Off mode will turn it off completely.

Haha, nice try

If I ever left the impression that I am tempted to sell off my perfectly satisfying Silky Silver to get a Federation (SEMA/Competition) Orange, then this should quash that. I would wrap my car rather than sell it. :D

Top of the list for me but my M6 took the cake for scary to drive and my RX7 takes the most fun to drive minus reliability lol (damn rotaries)
#1 stinger
#2 M6
#3 Rx7
#4 EvoX

all the rest are null (mostly trucks I had)

I have had quite a few cars throughout the years but will limit the list to some of my favorites.

2002 Mustang GT Convertible - Best donut car - Impossible to drive in the winter - This is the car that started my AWD obsession.

2012 WRX - Amazing AWD - Even lowered that thing went anywhere. Talk about a noisy car. That one was a rattle trap inside. This led me to wanting a more solid car.

2009 BMW 335xi (E92) - Joy to drive and I loved the looks, but a PITA to work on. Way over engineered IMO which led me to a new car that didn't require so much attention.

2019 Stinger GT2 AWD - Best all around. Floaty suspension stock especially after coming from the BMW. With the Eibach springs the ride is just right.

I feel like each of the vehicles listed was a step up. So far the Stinger has not left me wanting in any way. The value of the Stinger is tough to beat.
