It's the negative ground when boosting the car.

It might seem unusual, but this is another piece of useful information in the owners manual.

Ahh yes, the owner's manual. The answer to most questions. Given the pile of guides and manuals that came with the car, on day three of ownership I think it would take awhile to figure this out. Thanks for the clarification. Hope I never need to use that.
