What's the best octane to use?

The need to be considered correct by the forum majority can be exhausting, I know, I suffer from this from time to time as well. Point is the vehicle was designed and tuned from the factory to offer best performance with a minimum of 91 octane. Higher octane is only required for this vehicle for hard throttle situations to achieve expected performance. Lesser fuels will perform flawlessly and as well until such time higher octane would would allow for better performance situations. You drive the car like a luxury car...run 87, you enjoy the car and want best performance....91
I run 91 because I am jb4 and I love the loud pedal and all it has to offer

You run the car as a luxury car (drive like an old man), 87 octane is fine. But when you engage the kickdown switch, you'll wish that you kept 91 octane in the tank. For those occasions, relatively rare, that I want to show off or tickle my adrenals, I always keep top tier 91 in there. Why settle for less? It isn't pleasurable.

LMAO! You obviously dont know what that expression means and he was actually giving me a compliment of my victory in this conversation... Just so you understand "A mic drop is the gesture of intentionally dropping one's microphone at the end of a performance or speech to signal triumph.";)

I approve this message.

This comment is wrong in so many ways its just laughable. Truly shows how stubborn youre acting.

Lol and sorry if my thorough explanations are hard for some of you to follow. I understand 280 characters is the limit of many peoples attention spans now a days...
However, if you read the whole thread you would have seen how often these facts were explained, and that detailed comparison studies have already been performed which is where I got most of my information. Here's a few posts showing those details and the reputable sources(EPA, US Department of Energy, AAA & Motortrend, etc.) that shared them. Dont take my word for it and believe whatever you want, but the facts are there and thats better to trust than the difference you dont think you feel or "see"...
Gas. 87, 91, 93 Octane?
Gas. 87, 91, 93 Octane?
Gas. 87, 91, 93 Octane?
Nothing personal but some of you just dont understand how our modern engines work, or are simply in denial of the facts. But like they say "ignorance is bliss"...

Exactly! And even the video he shared proves my point even further:rolleyes::rofl:.

2018 Stinger OM:

"FUEL REQUIREMENTS

Your new vehicle is designed to use only unleaded fuel having a pump octane number ((R+M)/2) of 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or higher. (Do not use methanol blend- ed fuels.)

Your new vehicle is designed to obtain maximum performance with UNLEADED FUEL, as well as mini- mize exhaust emissions and spark plug fouling."

It is finished.

As someone who is not very knowledgeable about engines at a very deep level, can I attempt to TLDR this thread?

If you want maximum performance: 91 or 93 (depending on what is available in your state)
Otherwise: 87+ (whatever you want as long as its unleaded)

Does that about sum it up?

Your arrogance and self absorption is at a level seldom seen among civilized, intelligent society. I know full well what the saying means and the intent of the poster. Regarding your assertions, the mic drop comment didn't, and still doesn't apply. Under your assumptions, someone who owns a high-powered gaming computer should never play older, low graphic video games because the fuel for the processor will lead to long-term RAM and/or CPU damage. You flout your opinions as facts, and then pick excerpts from the whole of information to support your position while ignoring the entirety of truth.

That being said, generally speaking, a stupid man who knows he is stupid is little danger to society A stupid man who thinks he is wise, poses great danger. Your expositions, sir, are more dangerous than running regular octane fuel in a high compression engine. I doubt you will get to read this before one of your minions reports my post and it gets deleted, but that's okay.

I don't put this out here for the self-righteous who already know it all. I do it for those who truly desire to learn. I will not cite my resume or my IQ score, although I guarantee they are more accomplished and higher than yours. This is fact because if you had an IQ close to the same level I would be aware of your name and you wouldn't be spouting the misinformation you do. You would know better. Your mental capacity would have expanded further than its limited scope.

Again, Octane is merely the ability of fuel to resist incomplete detonation. The Stinger computer is designed to adjust timing accordingly should knock be detected. This happens quicker than you can breath. Timing is adjusted, engine continues to function as designed, and long-term damage is nill because the combustion cycle is optimized. The Kia powertrain warranty is 100,000 miles and Kia has put themselves on the hook for that very long period for all unleaded fuels (including 87). While premium is recommended for maximum power, it is not needed nor required to maintain your engine in warrantable status, therefore premium fuel is unnecessary. But, hey, don't take my word for it, merely check out the OM reference below:

FUEL REQUIREMENTS

Your new vehicle is designed to use only unleaded fuel having a pump octane number ((R+M)/2) of 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or higher. (Do not use methanol blend- ed fuels.)

Your new vehicle is designed to obtain maximum performance with UNLEADED FUEL, as well as mini- mize exhaust emissions and spark plug fouling.

Adios!
And so that ends that argument.

Or maybe not......:cautious:

Not trying to start anything, just a lot of information (and apparently misinformation?) going on here. Was just trying to sum it up, not interject more opinions.

Yeh no worries. I'm sure those guys haven't finished yet anyway. I was just sort of hoping so.

Well, you can't find anything below 91 (95RON) in Europe so easy choice for us. Still, so far I've used 93 (98RON) but after reading this topic I think I'll save the 20cents/litre and switch to 91 (95RON).

Lol. So you disregard all the important points, your own posted video, and all the legitimate sources & thorough tests I referenced(EPA, Department of Energy, AAA, Motortrend, etc) and then post a 3yr old outdated description Kia already revised & removed. You’re truly in denial of the facts and enjoy living in your dreamworld under that rock of yours.

Sorry to everyone else for having to listen to his rambling misinformation and hope you all use the facts and sources of evidence I listed before to make your own decisions. I give up trying to help people that refuse to learn and back to your original programming.;)

Guys, just stop being cheap and run premium. All GTDI engines prefer 91+, period. You guys ask 5 million times if a sticker will void your warranty, but want to run 87...

Yes, I ignore what you have to say because you are wrong.

Has zippo to do with being cheap. It is called not pissing away your money needlessly. :D

I need to know (in my cells) that my designed-in power is fully available when I reach the kickdown switch. "I gots to KNOW!" The octane that produces that performance is a definite Need and not pissing money away needlessly.
