Yeah so last night I was on another Stinger website just browsing through the posts and I came across one that was titled "Noisy sunroof FIXED"! Being that I've had minor sunroof noise ( I can only hear it when the sunshield is open) I was intrigued and clicked on it. The OP described how he pressed firmly with his palm all around the sunroof on the headliner. In two separate areas, he described hearing and feeling a click or popping from inside the headliner as if was "popping back into place". After he did that all sounds emanating from the sunroof ceased. Hmmmmmm.
I was verrrrry skeptical so I immediately went downstairs and started pressing firmly around my headliner. Low and behold in two areas...POP... POP. One around the middle of the front and one on the drivers side about 4 inches from the front. It feels like your pressing in some push tabs is the best way I can describe it.
Took the wife for a ride today (sunroof closed but sun shield open) on some awful roads in Chicago and the sunroof is muchhhhh quieter! Like 95% quieter! I only heard one noise from the rear of the sunroof and that's when we went over a reallllly bad section of road. The areas where the popping sound emanated from, which before was a source of minor squeaking, are now whisper quiet. It's crazy but the whole interior now seems quieter as well. Interesting. Hopefully this is a permanent fix and can help others. I sincerely doubt this will cure all sunroof issues but it definitely silenced my minor squeaks for now. No promises but I just thought I should pass this on. Fingers crossed for everyone! P.S Don't hate me if it doesn't work LOL

I had a pretty bad rattle coming from the roof in the area you describe. I can press on the headliner around the sunroof near the visor and toward the passenger window and recreate the noise but pushing up firmly didn't help. How hard did you push up? I backed off after feeling the material in the liner start to crush.

For reference this is what mine sounds like at low/moderate speeds (<30mph).

And here is what it sounds like if press on the glass.

I'm thinking my noise may be two fold: glass and headliner.

Wow!!! Yeah mine didn’t sound anything like that. That would drive me NUTS! Mine was more of a squeak. If you started to hear the interior material begin to crush you applied more pressure than I did. That noise sounds wayyyy past just pressing on the headliner. Sorry your experiencing that, that would be a deal breaker for me. What a shame:(

@Kamauxx Thats EXACTLY how mine sounds! Mind if I use that vid of you driving down the road as proof? I am already involved with 1 crappy dealer who told me 'we have 2 others on the lot doing the same thing so its normal, but they arent as loud'..... They got the dam Kia Tech Line case CLOSED that they had opened with Kia b/c apparently it's 'normal'...... I'm still trying to get it fixed and moving to dealer #2 next week.

Go for it man!

I wanted to mention it at my last service appt but didn't feel like bothering with them. It's gotten significantly worse since then. I'll be bringing it to their attention during my next visit as well.
