Have just had this GT-line car for two weeks and want to wax it. On my prior cars I never waxed the non-metal parts (the parts that look like rubber or body parts that give when pushed on such as the wrap over the bumper) -- even if they look like they were painted. But the Stinger has all sorts of non-metal accent strips around the top compared to my old cars and those metallic-like side-view mirrors -- are they metal or plastic? I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and wax everything from the roof to the rocker panel? What is the opinion out there on where to wax? (Let's skip the talk about ceramic coat as I'm not going to invest more money in the daily driver. Also, as a new member I can't post links to the images I wanted to show).
But they do make a Stinger GT-Line now.. it's the base 2.0 one.
As for what to wax, I wax everything that isn't rubber basically. Including the "dark chrome" plastic on the mirrors and grille. I don't wax glass either.
Howdy. Waxing any painted parts is the way I'd do it if I did a full wax job. So far, the only waxing I have done is when I do a touchup, after rubbing compound, polishing compound, then a few layers of wax on the spot/area. Later, I'll add another layer or two to keep the protection going. I'm over 28 months into ownership, and I think that the clear coat still looks as good as the day I took possession. This car is out of the weather in a north-facing carport, i.e. 99% out of direct sunlight (only gets a bit of slanting sunlight in the dawn and sunset). No doubt, this is the main contributor to my car's finish looking so good. The other is that I clean her incessantly; at least once a week, and after every rain storm, or any other incident that mars her beauty.

I’ve waxed everything minus the windows/sunroof, rubber trims and plastic mesh of the front grilles(too much work). The black chrome trim is plastic and it can be waxed, just don’t use any abrasives on it. I used scratch-x on one of the mirrors to remove a scuff and it swirled up the finish. Good news is those mirror caps are cheap ($40 pair on eBay).
I think that @JayTX is confusing nomenclature and models. The GT-Line in 2020 was Kia's combining of the Base and Premium trims into a single 2.0L trim. Kia got rid of the body styling of the Base and Premium and just went with "GT" body styling for all trims. Your car isn't AWD unless you paid another $2,200 for AWD. RWD is standard on all Stinger trims.
All painted panels are clear coated. The bumper covers, rocker panels, spoiler and hatch lid behind the license plate are black plastic (ask me how I know, heh!).
Everything that is painted to match is clear coated or it wouldn’t last a year. The gloss black hood vents, lower vents, B pillars, rear vents and rear diffuser are plastic with a clear coat but they show swirls marks much easier than the body of the car.
