What is a reasonable purchase price on a 2019 GT2?

I am trying to figure out the number I should be shooting for when negotiating the GT2 price. The problem I'm having is 90% of the people here are doing the lease/purchase thing because of the lease cash Kia is giving away, but I live in NY and I believe it doesn't make sense for me with the way the taxes work, correct?

So, if I'm left with looking to straight up purchase, what should I be looking at for a 2019 GT2? Sticker as you know is around $53k...with invoice being around 48k...but not sure how much lower people have been getting when a lease is not involved.

Guidance would be appreciated!

I bought a 2018 Stinger GT2 AWD for 43K back in September with 72Mo and 0.9% finance. Makes my payments lower than most I see here with leases.

I've already seen 52K+ MRSP 2019 GT2 RWD selling in the 43s and 54K+ MRSP GT2 AWDs selling in the 46s. Deals are out there.

Kind of worries me for the Stinger future them already selling 2019 so low. Makes me wish I had waited just three months.

Stinger is a great car but I feel they priced it a bit too high out the gate for a lot of folks who are numbers buyers and how they feel about the brand. Now if you get them in the door to drive it, they will see how well it compares with the others. But as we are all shoppers, we want the best price we can get.

Edmunds has a fairly accurate Build and Price calculator. It'll give you a good comparison between MSRP and invoice.
Here's a sample with a general NY state zip code:

Yeah, that fits with what I paid. The dealer said they were knocking $2,995 off MSRP. When offered cash they said they'd take a further $500 off MSRP. They wouldn't budge, which surprised both of us; we thought that cash up front would get a better discount that c. $1,500. Then they trotted out the Kia lease incentive and it sounded too good. Of course, the dealer wasn't going to let that take the car's out the door price anywhere near their invoice; so after tacking on "added fees and costs that we incur", the incentive did not give us a jot more savings; in fact, we probably wound up giving back a bit of the discount that they said they were offering: our first payment, out the door, was $1,212. I learned a lot about leasing, mainly here, after the fact. *sigh*

Next time it is cash only.

And there is no way that any dealer offering a discounted price below invoice is going to actually sell the car for that amount. Be real! That is just to hook you inside the door. So a true sales price has to give the dealer a few thousand dollars in profit. Therefore, this early in the 2019 game, a final out the door price is going to be a few thousand above invoice, or else that dealer is going to go out of business.

(I am reminded of a cartoon: Two guys sitting inside a boxcar doorway, in frayed, grubby business suits, feet dangling wearing shabby shoes, unshaven, clearly down on their luck and homeless. The one says to the other, "I knew we weren't making any profit. But I thought that the increased sales volume would save us.")

Depends on state to state. I think NC is better for lease buyout than NY (place where I used to live). May be in NY I would have spent all lease rebate in double taxation but NC I wouldn't (haven't paid property tax yet so not sure if it would be charged double, but sales tax/HUT is not).

I got $7k off MSRP on a '19 GT2 AWD on Christmas Eve. That included the $2k rebate w/ 2.9%/60mo finance. Based on what I've seen in the "What did you pay" thread, that seemed like a pretty good deal for buying rather than leasing.

Hi everyone, I work at a Kia dealership in Wisconsin. I just got my wife a 2019 Stinger GT.
Kia provides very deep incentives on the Stinger if you are leasing. The best way to buy the car is to lease the car to take advantage of the lease cash incentives. If you wants to own the car, you can write a check to the "buy out" amount after you lease the car.
Otherwise, if you plan to finance the vehicle, you can choose between a cash incentive and a 0.9% APR with zero incentive. Depending on how much you put down, your monthly payment may be lower one way or the other.
You can't use lease cash incentive toward finance.
And if you decide to pay cash, there is no incentive.
As far as a good price for your Stinger? My dealership are selling the car at dealer cost just to move them.
I paid the same price a customer would pay.
It's hard to make people realize the value of the Stinger. A fully loaded GT2 is still cheaper than a fully loaded Audi A4. And if you want a S4, it's going to be at least $10k-$15k more.
If you get questions, please let me know.

That's pretty concise "Buy a Kia Stinger 101". :D Welcome to the forum. It's good to get words from the horse's mouth.

@Jimmer It sure sounds like dealer cost for MY19s to me.

Hi All-
I am new here. I joined with the intention of getting some solid opinions before I jump the gun and fork out the money for the Stinger. I am in MI and I was offered a 2019 Snow White GT2 AWD with the red interior package for about $50,000 OTD. All fees and taxes payable at the dealer and rebates included. Does this sound fine? I would have liked to get another 2000 knocked off this price to bring the OTD to $48,000. Is that asking for too much or is there still more headroom?
I would also like to add that I am looking a buying the car/financing it. I am not looking at leasing it because I for one do not understand how a lease works and I do not want to get stuck in any contract for any period of time.
Also this particular car comes with 18 inch wheels and the specs on Kia website says that the top speed with 18 inch wheels is 130MPH. The 19 inch wheeled models have a top speed of 167MPH. Is this speed limited from factory? Or are these speeds just a guideline for safe usage? Thank you in advance.

Is it a 2019 and AWD?

Oooops.. I should have mentioned that its a 2019 MY. Corrected it now.

It is factory limited, because the A/S tires have less than "ultra high performance" specs; 150 top speed testing, iirc. The Michelins are summer UHP and are tested above 186 MPH. So Kia is securing themselves from lawsuits. I understand that you can get the speed limiter changed or even lobotomized entirely at a tune shop. But I'd not take the top speed above 167 MPH, or else Kia will have something to say about warranty and liability issues. If you ever do get the limiter changed/raised, make sure your tires are changed to UHP also.

Edit to add: On pricing: I leased then did the buyout once I realized that I'd save over $4K by lease-end in avoided lease rental monthly fees; so I tried to get the incentive for leasing; but that only sort of worked out; I'd go financing now, too; especially since interest rates for getting a loan to do a buyout on a lease are going up: making the buyout less attractive or even advantageous. I think that if OTD is absolutely it, taxes and registration/licencing included, that is a decent price for a MY19 GT2 AWD. If you can afford $48K, you can surely afford $50K; so if this particular vehicle suits you, don't hassle/haggle over a measly $2K. But, I am not a haggler: I am a buyer of what I want and don't mind paying for what I want. Now.

I have no intention of tampering with the limiter whatsoever. And I'm not even thinking of travelling remotely close to any of those speeds. Just curious to understand from users and owners if Kia really did this at factory level and just for something as easily replaceable as wheels. I can understand if its something to do with a suspension component or brakes but wheels are so easily replaceable to higher performance ones. Hopefully they have not limited the torque output too along with the speed.

I am happy to hear that $50K is an OK price OTD. But I'm not financing this vehicle full. I've got a trade as well as a down payment that I'm making. The amount coming from finance is the max they have me currently approved for and they did this without a credit pull. $2K is what I'm short of now. I do not want to go back to the bank and ask to be approved for another $2K more if I can help it. But that would be my only option if $48K OTD is not a reasonable price for the MY 2019 GT2 AWD assuming I want this vehicle that badly. Hence the question.

Else I have another offer from a different dealer $45,000 OTD same vehicle 2018 MY. That's a $5K difference between the 2019 and 2018 model years.

The 19s have a few features the 18s don't. If you don't care about the features, save the money and get a 18

The features for 19MY that I have been able to gather over the 18MY are:
1. Heated rear seats
2. 360 camera
3. Colors
Please help me if I have not identified some. The 19 GT2 still does not have a true manual override for the transmission, which is going to be sorely missed. I can't recollect any other feature that the 19s have over the 18s. But all of the AWD that are up on offer here come with the 18 inch wheels. Only RWD comes with the 19 inch wheels with the Michelin rubber. And the 18 inch wheels are supposed to be optional on the AWD per the info from Kia website and the brochure. The way I see it here 19 inch wheels are more like optional and the 18 inch wheels standard.

Remote start and wireless charging.

Agree with the Qi. But try as I may I could not find remote start on the 19. It could be installed as an accessory with a separate keyfob but the HU does not seem to have a compatible UVO app. I don't remember seeing a cell signal meter either. But I would be interested to know about that because I use the Hyundai BlueLink and I have come to depend on that a lot. Is this confirmed that the UVO app supports remote start?
