What exactly does linear throttle mapping do?

I tried to enable linear throttle mapping, but I notice that I am still getting around max boost at around 70-80% pedal travel.
I only want max boost at 100% pedal, if I want full acceleration I'll put my foot down. Is linear throttle mapping bit supposed to do this?

Is there any chance that BMS might add customisable throttle map into JB4 settings in future?

Thanks!

Linear mapping does what it says: mapping is a straight line. But it's talking about the JB4's mapping.

Normally pedal mapping isn't quite straight, depending on how the OE set up the ECU. The JB4 does not change the pedal mapping - it can't. All it does is change the pressure sensor readings back to the ECU to goof the ECU into giving the engine more boost (and more or less fuel) than the ECU actually intended.
Adding the OBD2 connection lets the JB4 read data off the bus, such as pedal position, so it has a better idea of what you're doing instead of just reading the MAP/TMAP pressures. This lets the unit have a bit more finess in its response - more pedal = more boost, while also taking into account what the pressure sensors are saying.

My *assumption* is Burger spent some time trying to make the response curve match the OE pedal curve (whatever it is). The difference will be in the middle - not on the ends. And the difference is probably subtle.

And if you're really running map 0 like your signature says, then the JB4 isn't actually doing *anything*.

If you really want to change pedal response then you'll need an ECU tune. And specifically you'll need a custom tune because the normal aftermarket response is MORE THROTTLE NOW!

There's one pedal tuner that has a slower curve (rather than just faster curves), but it probably still won't do what you want.

You'd have to sweet talk Burger into making a custom map for you. Even then, the problem is all the JB4 can change is the pressures. So sure, it could build less boost until later in the pedal, but all the other tuning (TCU settings, the rest of the engine settings, etc) are still thinking it's PARTY TIME.

Depending on many factors, linear response may not always be best.

I remember test riding a bmw k1600gt few years ago. It had what I would call a very sensitive throttle, especially off the line. A little bit of throttle resulted in lots of go. This is great once you're moving, but not immediately off idle. Same with vehicles with racing clutches - either on or off, very small/non existent friction zone.

Oops I need to update my sig, on map 1 currently (waiting to do plugs).

So what I'm noticing is that it's just always adding ~3psi regardless of pedal being at 70-100%

For now I'm driving around in Eco mode which seems to do a better job of providing linear throttle but it would be nice if I had more options.

I ran eco mode for quite a while with the JB4 for the same reason. It actually wasn't the throttle response - it's the TCU tuning. Eco holds a lower gear so you're keeping revs down and using torque. It's just a different driving preference to winding the engine out.

If you talk to a tuner you probably want to say something like "delayed throttle" or "reduced pedal response" rather than linear. They might think you really mean what you're saying and actually do it - and I strongly suspect you will not actually want a ""linear"" pedal.
Frankly I'm headed down the same road. I had to re-train my right foot after the Tork tune but I'm going to ask for a custom tune that better fits how I like to drive the car on the road.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
^^You mean higher/taller gear? Lower gear will keep revs higher for a given speed.
