It's due to the chip shortage. Dealers don't have a great supply of cars. So a car like the Stinger, many only have one or two on the lot. Less supply, means they can (and probably need to) charge more.I'm not looking to buy, just wondering why we don't see people talking about getting $8k off MSRP on AWD GT2s anymore.
...not worth investigating though.
I went to a Kia dealer a few days ago and they literally had 1 new Kia on the lot, a Kia Soul. I asked if they sold Stingers b/c it's literally not even an option on the website. They said they do, but they get one every now and then and it sells pretty quickly.
Like other dealers I've visited, they claim they only sell MSRP plus a "modest" dealer add on. I'm sure if they had one on the lot and I showed real interest in buying that day, they would negotiate. But in the past, dealers would mark down car fee grand off MSRP off the bat and buyers would try to talk them down a little more, add in the manufacturer incentives and come away with nice savings. But less cars, mean more $$$.
I'm waiting until winter to see if some better deals come and wait until the Kia incentives go up a bit.
