Weird Turbo Noise

Hello all, name is John--been following the forum since I purchased my 2020 Singer GT AWD last August (currently about 8K on the odometer), I hope I'm posting this in the right area. I have been loving the car aside from some of the small typical issues like trunk rattle and brake vibration (fixed by bedding brakes). Most recently I have been noticing a different turbo sound. It is barely noticeable, but very different. Sounds like a drill which is usually an indicator of turbo failure... The sound and frequency increases as I press the throttle further, usually beyond 4-5K. Anyone have this same issue? I live in the middle of nowhere Colorado, about 4 hours from the nearest dealership so I hesitate to bring it in right now. Extreme cold starts have also been an issue, lots of sputtering and hesitation below -10 to -20. I wonder if the issue is related? Thanks!

I would take it to the nearest dealer to have it checked out. If you suspect a turbo going out, best to get it taken care of.

Yeah, I get that, but like I mentioned the nearest dealer is 4 hours away. Just want to see if anyone else has the same issue, like maybe a loose hose clamp before I take a full day to drive there...

Do you only hear it inside the cabin? I also get a high pitched whistling sound in extreme cold temperatures, like -20C, that goes away as the car warms up. Maybe lasts 5 minutes if it's EXTREMELY cold, -35C and colder. I don't think it's the turbos though, I'm fairly certain it's fan related.

Have had it since I owned it. Almost 3 years now.

My issue is certainly turbo related. It is louder when I roll down the windows and and responds to throttle, especially As boost kicks in. I think the cold start issue is just another issue. Does your car sputter and misfire right as you start it in negative temps?

I gladly never live under about 20 degrees farenheit. Im sorry for the cold :/ the oil may need to be thinner. There is a specific shell rotella t6 oil for diesel and large equitment that changes viscosity different than other oils. Great for cold cold weather and i use it in my troublesome ducati to help with cam wear on cold starts. (Under 140 degrees on the engine leads to cam damage) so every time it starts it does damage till its warm lol.

Hey man, mine has just done it today, exactly like you described it, it's almost like a supercharger whine, under 4-5k rpm when the full boost kicks in. Did you get to what was the issue?

I know what it is the your blow off valves the little connector on top must’ve gotten disconnected.
