We’re better off with our Stingers...

why? they removed some things to make a optional package and lowered the price at the same time. Overall the 2021 version is better (apart from the rear taillights)

Some things are indeed better, but I don’t need the things they omit to be touched, regardless of package offered. I understand what they’re trying to do, but I’ll take my 2018 with all the proper internals.

ok but you can still get all the "proper" internals.... and more with the 2021

So, what's the "catch"? Did I miss it?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Resale value of “options” Are drastically less than “packages” or “models”. KBB might assign an additional $100 of resale value for an option that added $2,000 to the sticker price. While they might add $1,000 for a “package” that added $2,000 to the sticker price. It all just depends on how KBB classifies it.

The way Kia did the GT, GT1, and GT2 designations really helped resale value for the Stinger. BMW and INFINITI destroy their resale values with “al la carte” options.

Well said.

So I just need to swap hoods with a new 2.5t to get a smooth hood without fake vents?! Also Brembos not being standard on 3.3t models sounds a little scary (7:44 in video)

Yep. Funny how that seems to be the case here.

Ah, the "catch" was put in "10. Options". The only thing I see different from the current GT is the loss of Brembo brakes. The Lexicon sound system is already a GT "standard feature" (I guess it's a Lexicon anyway, I never enquired; but it isn't a Harman Kardon); ECS already isn't a GT feature; "nannies" are already optional on the GT. What else did I miss?

Smooth hood! That has only shown up on the forum once, over two years ago; not a US thing, but apparently somebody got one out of Korea. If this turns up in the US I will be surprised.

I thought the GT line is not getting the 2.5t and was going to remain a 2.0t?

For now, this is info on the Korean market Stinger, the US media site already have the 2021 Stinger listed as a carry over from 2020. If they decide to pull a fast one and bring the face lifted version here, we probably wont see that until next March at the earliest. The Koreans typically gets them for a few months before we get them.

Wait the GT dropped the brembos? That's terrible, these are my favorite breaks ever. (Pads excluded) Hopefully the performance package has a near 100% take rate.

Smooth hood is amazing though, hope to find some junkyard rear-ended red stingers in the near future, hate those hood scoops, hate that they collect water and I'm constantly fighting water spots there, The only way dry this car after a wash is with a leaf blower thanks to them.

I was indeed worried this refresh would devalue our existing stingers, but it looks doubtful that anyone on the used market would diferenciate / may appreciate knowing things are defaults in the 18-20s with how terrible dealer/used car sites are. (You get a checkbox for AM/FM Radio and Cruise Control, but not forward collision avoidance or $2k performance packages.)

Also @DoctorStiches RIP your son... or your near classic stinger. :D

The rear tail lights are growing on me, I like the new progressive rear indicators, I like the new and more interior ambient lighting and I like the patterned nappa seats.
I don't like the fact the Brembo's are not standard but an optional upgrade.
Hope it doesn't turn out in the future like the BMW's and Merc's so that " everything decent " becomes an optional upgrade package and ends up costing heaps more.
Then Kia will move away from having great cars that give " best bang for your buck "
However all these little changes doesn't sway me to trade in my Sonic, I'm more than happy with my 2019 model.

Definitely not a fan of the stitching on the seats... I like the new headlights though.

I think that some of the standard options in the GT model will be ala carte in 2021. An immediate consequence is when you are at the negotiating table with the dealer it gives more areas to negotiate -- which can be good and bad. I like that the super cool stereo system and Brembo brakes are standard in my model, which will no longer be the case.

I like some -- not all -- of the new interior design changes.

And, the most significant changes occur with the entry model, which also makes it more expensive (e.g., hp, torque, and slip differential). BTW, this is my first car that I can remember with a slip differential. I do not like it. I love it.

It is also targeted toward a more mature audience. Personally, I refuse to be mature and grow up. That is for adults, not for a 50+ year old that is still a big kid inside.

I did not know this information about resale value. Very helpful.
