water pump leaking?

I've experienced a coolant smell with my car since it was brand new. I've posted on here about it in fact. The dealer checked it and they said nothing was wrong. Well low and behold I see the source now. It appears the water pump is leaking. Notice the corrosion in the picture?


Back to the dealer I go.

I'd be asking serious questions as to how they managed to not see that...

I had a coolant leak and took the car to the closest dealer (good people). They pressure tested with dye, found the leaks, ordered the parts and fixed it. Done.

that was months ago when I had it back to the dealer. There was nothing visibly leaking then.

dealer called today, water pump is leaking. Parts ordered. Glad I won't have to smell coolant after dealing with this for 16 months.

What was the cause? Faulty part, incorrect assembly?

I'm wondering if a tune/downpipes/meth would void my warranty on a water pump? it couldn't be considered the cause...right? lol
