Virgin stinger owner...well, in 3 weeks

Hey all!

Just bought a new stinger for the misses. Just thought id have a look for some Kia forums out in the world, and.lucky for me this place popped up.
Not exactly a stranger to large rwd turbo sedans. Have owned an xr6t, and an F6 in my younger days, and well, i never thought id see the day when id kind of get back into the scene of buying another car like this. Anyway, looking forward to some finding out some info on this site.

@MerlintheMad The thing for me was the badges to be changed and how to go about it, so i just googled it and this place came up. Seems like one of the first mods people are doing.

@robz32 Its already here...long story about this car, but basically it was ordered by a supposed customer, and then they just went awol! So, i kind of thought its a spanker, and the misses just landed a new gig (she gets a car allowance) and this is what she wanted. At first i was like...seriously, a kia? Haha. But taken it for a drive and i was very impressed by it.

@ShannonC Im in Brisbane mate, not too sure how to update that yet, but ill have a look into it. And its silver with black interior. Had the exhaust already put on it as an option from the supposed person who ordered it. I ended up getting it for 58k with tinted windows, mats and 12 months rego. It is an my18 model though...only had 19kays on the clock, so its got the continentals on it, but i just said to the misses just wear em out, then we will look at the michellins. Will pick it up in another 2 and a half weeks as thats when the misses starts her new job. Unfortunatley i dont have the room for 3 cars atm...so ill just have to wait it out.

G’day mate and welcome. Wow that’s a bloody good deal; 58 for the bi-modal plus the other extras. I wouldn’t worry about it being an MY 18, there’s very little difference between the 18’s and 19’s and none of them a deal breaker in my opinion. There’s nothing wrong with the Conti’s either. Whereabouts in Brisbane are you? I’m in Birkdale.

Yeah Oli, i knew it was a good deal...I did abit of searching, and none of them had the exhaust already fitted, and most were around the 60k mark. Just checking my sheet now actually...supposedly a $10552 discount on it.
And my thoughts exactly, i didnt really care if it was an 18 or 19...bar the tyres was the only thing i noticed with the MY19's. And to top it off i got them to tint the windows and up the rego to 12 months...Oh, and mats haha. So yeah, cant wait till we get it. It will be the misses car, so abit of a weekend toy for me. I drive a Ranger, so will be just a slight bit different to what im used to haha! But then again, i did have the F6, so will be fun getting into a turbo 6 again.
And im at Algester BTW.
And question to you Aussie peeps, what insurance are you guys using? They do seem to be a bit steep with the premiums. It varies from about $750-$2000. And im 36 and she is 34!....so not exactly young hoons...well, anymore LOL!

I think most of us are paying around 800 odd with a range of insurers. I’m about 800 with AAMI.

Hey Bsting3r - I believe I saw your car at Motorama a few weeks back whilst I was checking their stock out on the 9th. That previous fallen through sale had me wondering too as it already had private - not dealer registration.

They definitely had some good bi-model deals there.

Yeah i quized them all about that, and it got derigistered. No finance owing etc etc. I believe dealers cant sell cars if they have some form of encumberence on it. They have to wear it essentially. So when i took it out it had dealer plates on it due to it being "sold" but the owner never responded to their calls to say it was ready to be picked up. Weird one i have to admit, but i didnt care so much aslong as it never had any other monies owing on it. But i guess it would be similar to when people order cars and then not want them. Not too sure what happens to deposits and what not if thats the case...
