Ok this issue happened just last night.

When I try to lock the doors, either using the door handle button or the key fob, the Stinger goes through a System Check (on the instrument cluster) and the headlights/turn lights would flash alternately once.

If I try an unlock, the car does the above behavior twice in succession.

The doors do lock and unlock though, but I'm concerned this problem might get worse. I'm gonna garage the Stinger until this is cleared.

All I have installed on my Stinger are the CK71 DRLs and a Blackvue dashcam powered via lighter port, hoping those aren't the cause.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Your title is confusing. You're outside the car, but the instrument cluster is on and showing activity?

Otherwise, it sounds like normal behavior. Why would you use the key fob to lock/unlock inside the car? I don't manually lock the doors when inside the car, because they lock automatically when I shift into "R". Likewise, they unlock automatically when I shift into "P" and turn the car off. I lock my doors using the door button after I step outside the car (that way I spare my mirror motors; I lock the car and swivel the mirrors in with the fob when I'm away from home, though, just not in my own driveway).

Yes i am outside the car locking/unlocking the car using the door button or key fob from outside the car.

I could see the instrument cluster LCD through the driver window glass, and it does a system check once when i lock, and twice when i unlock.

Sorry for the confusion from the title, dunno how else to describe what is happening

So, you described it perfectly; and it is perfectly weird!? I've never heard of this. Maybe your car is possessed (it's all I have, not even original. Hah).

Damn guess I'm calling the dealership tomorrow.

Im trying to attach a video of the issue here, but I guess .mp4 is unsupported?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
You can store the video somewhere and link to here (once you can post links; which I think is after 15 posts). I wouldn't worry about this "getting worse" though, until it actually starts to get worse somehow. Just drive the car and keep a hairy eye peeled for weirdness.

Thanks for your feedback Merlin. I certainly hope you're right. But just to err on the side on caution, ill probably try to limit my Stinger to short trips until i can bring her to the dealer next week

Do you have any kind of remote start installed?

No i do not have remote start.

Im bringing her to the dealer today to have it checked. Will update on what happens.

Back from the dealer, and they couldnt figure out whats causing this behavior. They said theyd have to get the KIA HQ's technical department involved.

Although the service guys did confirm that this shouldnt affect the safety of the car and i can still drive it without worry (fingers crossed).

I will schedule another appointment and leave the car with them to test on. Would have been able to leave it today, but apparently with the current KIA recall, all their rentals are reserved or out today.

At least I had an oil change and cabin filter replaced so today wasn't a total waste.
