Since these don't have a weather proof housing, why are the circuit boards not potted? Is there a heat issue?

This is the way the product is designed from the manufacturer and it has PCB board sealant over the top to prevent damage. They do not recommend customers sealing the ends, as it does trap in the heat without allowing for any ventilation.

Has anyone living in a snowy climate had these on for a few years with no issues?
Trying to figure out if a few people just got unlucky and/or smth went wrong in the install

or if there is a wider spread QC issue with this product

On the fence, install looks easy but id be annoyed if i need to revisit or remove it if it fails within like < 5 yrs (which some have had fail within a few months)

anyone able to confirm a few yrs of it working fine in areas that see snow a lot?

I can tell you 100% that there have been several upgrades/revisions to the original product that was designed 3+ years ago.

The newest revision which is V3 was released in January of this year, and we have had very few defects with the newest revision V3.

The original design had issues with the circuit board corroding from the elements and the manufacturer created V1 & V2 without sealing the circuit board.

V3 was completely redesigned from the ground up, new LED lights, new internal PCB boards, and V3 now come with the circuit board completely sealed inside from the elements.

This was a decision made by the manufacturer & so far it has proven to hold up much better to climates with salt on the roadways.

Also, in the past, if the circuit board failed, you would need to remove the bumper LED & send it in so we can replace it under warranty.

However, we now have spare circuit boards on hand, so we can ship a customer under warranty a replacement circuit board, without the need to remove the bumper reflector from the vehicle.
