Actually vegemite is made from the stuff you make beer with...yeast. Its the byproduct after the brewing process i believe and they add some vegie extract and flavours.

Another good reason not to eat Vegemite. Awful stuff. Although I’m quite happy to drink the beer to produce the byproducts in order that others can eat Vegemite.
