Have you ever been shopping in the mall and thought to yourself, “Did I lock the car?” Kia solves that problem with the Kia Access with UVO link app on your smartphone. Features like Remote Lock and Unlock, Remote Start and Remote Climate lets you control your Kia from a distance.

When using the Kia Access with UVO link app on your smartphone, you should press the “Refresh” icon to make sure the information is up to date. We’ve all locked our keys in our car, right?

That can be an expensive mistake… but not if you own a Kia.

From your smartphone, open Kia Access with UVO link app and press the unlock icon under Door Locks and your Kia will unlock.

You can also do this in the “Remote” features under the “Security” tab. The reverse is also true – you can also lock your Kia remotely.

As we said in the opening, it’s a real convenience if you’re shopping and don’t remember if you locked your car.

Just open the app and press the lock icon under “Door Locks”. It’s that simple. The Kia Access with UVO link app also allows you to remotely start your Kia. To use Remote Start, the key must be outside of the vehicle and the doors must be closed and locked.

You can start your Kia by pressing the start icon under “Remote Start”. To operate the Remote Climate Control feature, select “Remote” from the menu. Then, go to “Climate”

Here, you can select the preferred temperature…
you can turn on the Front and Rear Defrost, Heated Mirrors and Heated Steering Wheel by pressing the buttons, which turn green.

Then, press “Start”, then “OK”.

Your Kia will start, and the temperature will adjust so it’s ready to go when you are. That way you can cool down in the summer… and take the chill off in the winter.

You can also press “Stop” to turn off the heating and air conditioning system. That’s a real convenience all-year round. The goal at Kia is to make your life easier by enabling you to remotely lock or unlock your Kia, start your car and by giving you access to your climate controls via your smartphone

For additional information on Remote Lock and Unlock, Remote Climate Control and Remote Start, please refer to the Car Multimedia System User’s Manual or the Kia Features & Functions Videos

The things this ad doesn't tell: Heated seats are not an option through the app.
The app decides whenever it wants to work or not. It'll tell you it failed to send to the command to start the car, but your engine is definitely running 70% of the time.

The delay. Sometimes, it'll take 15 seconds, sometimes 2 minutes. The app spinner will make you mad.

But...... it's free. Hard to spit on free. So yeah, it's not perfect, but it's wayyyy better than living in the US :p:D

That's what we get to fight harsh climate. And the awesome GT Limited trim

you baaaa

Sorry bud, did not mean to hurt your feelings, but all is not well north of the border either:
Just discovered, my wife needs a new phone, the updated UVO APK does not support her version of Android anymore...mind you, her phone is dated, but still...

You may also have noticed, that the Telluride was featured in the video; are the 2020 & up models are getting it now or is UVO not available in the US et al?

Kia has offered it in other us models for years. Just not the Stinger.

Appreciate the post... not.

Why doncha rub salt in the US owners wounds.

you baaaaastaaaard.
We Swedes (or perhaps europeanuts) does not get this.
And i have never locked my car keys inside the car, because i need the car keys to lock it (even with remote etc).
And all my cars that have had "touchless" keys, know when the key are inside the car or not..

Things the ad doesn't tell.. u can't start a stinger remotely after the last update pushed yesterday lol. Only lets u lock, unlock, put on hazards, and sound the horn. Looks like they're inventing new ways to fudge things up at HQ lol.

If that was the case, it was an inadvertent error they have fixed. The last time I updated that app was months back, but I just installed an update to it this morning and the remote start and cancel works fine.

I updated the app and started my car after that, this morning. I believe they added mention of side mirrors defrost option in the custom remote start section. Cross your fingers that they made the delay faster and more consistent.

On that front there is only so much they can do - unlike a remote fob within RF range of the car, the UVO remote start requires placing a cellular call to the car, along with the associated handshaking once connected for confirmation/security. That's always going to take longer, and is dependent on the cellular network for performance.

Although I understand what you're saying, on the 4G network the latency shouldn't be over 60000 ms, that's just terrible. The latency delta for cellular towers should be around 5-10 seconds at most when the signal is low, so maybe a total of 25 seconds from the initial handshake to the confirmation being received by the cellphone.

On two start tests this morning, the average time from entering the confirmation code to vehicle startup was 22 seconds. I don't generally use this feature as I consider running the engine to warm the car a waste of fuel, but for me that's a reasonable delay considering the communications link used.

By chance I just launched my UVO app and was prompted to update it. Which I naturally did.
Now the option of remotely starting my car has disappeared.
I know I had it, because I used it a couple of days ago.
Can one revert back to the previous version?

You'd have to manually download and install the older APK version (on Android), but the app would force you to update it with a prompt on startup.

Short answer: No. The solution would be for Kia to fix their mistake. Try contacting them. I know a few members did already, but the higher amount of support tickets for the same trouble should increase the chances for a quick fix.

Thx.
I have downloaded the older apk.
I have also sent them a ticket request on this also.
I will wait a couple of days before I delete the app and install the older version. I think I need my VIN to get it to work again...and my login details...

It is looking like the disappearing remote start in the UVO app is an Android version compatibility problem. I'm currently on Android 9, and generally install updates as soon as they show up.
