In my previous car I had my ipod connected at all times (nicely hidden away inside the center console) and then tethered my phone to the main usb for Apple CarPlay and spotify.

Now with the Stinger, according to the manual, the second USB out is only for charging and doesn't work with an ipod? Is this really the case? That is extremely disappointing. It's disappointing enough that the second usb is out in the open behind the console instead of INSIDE IT, but to not even be fully functional?

Why is the basic pioneer 4200 nex I bought two years ago more advanced than this car? A single usb-out in 2018?

Would it be possible to have the ipod connected to the front usb and then be connected via bluetooth for CarPlay and spotify? Or will they interfere with eachother (not that I would be using them both at once).

I'm very confused, are you saying that you used both your iPod and iPhone for CarPlay/Spotify? Why would you need both? Why not just put the music you have on your iPod on your phone and just use CarPlay full-time with your phone?

I'm still in the camp that thinks the Kia infotainment is incredibly capable without CarPlay/Android Auto, and I really hate having to plug my phone in to use it. My BMW had wireless CarPlay, but that had its own share of issues. Wireless Android Auto would be nice, but that's going to require a retrofit. I'm perfectly happy with having a USB drive plugged in 24/7 and using the default Kia Infotainment.

Look up Stinger GT and Me on youtube. He made a video showing how it is easy to remove the center console and make a passthrough to send a wire into the compartment from the front usb port. I am going to do it my self soon. Here is the link actually.

There’s a few trends about this with some hacks, most of the are doing what ^Joseph Cahn said. One person even added a USB hub into the centre console. A few people at work all have new cars(different brands) with CarPlay/Android Auto and they all have to be hard wired in, from what I read it’s up to the manufacturer to decide to make them wireless. Am guessing it has to do with all the distracted drivers and the laws, kinda of a way to force people to keep the phones out of sight.
The USB at the back of the car is for rear passengers to charge their phones.

I run my Pandora from my phone via Bluetooth, no need to plug in except to charge

Well I bit the bullet and ran the cable the way they did in the video I linked above. The two takeaways I can give someone are to use a plastic pry to to avoid damage to the plastic and to be very careful drilling the front hole where the USB port is. The material there is thicker and requires more force to push the drill through. I had the same issue he had in the video of having to push harder to get the bit to go through and then almost going too far and having the bit drill the usb port. This is despite knowing it could happen from watching the video. The best idea I have for anyone doing it now would be to make progressively bigger pilot holes until you get to the correct size. That way you are not trying to push a large bit through a small pilot hole all at once. The rear one was not an issue because that plastic is softer and it went through easily.

^ Am going to do the same when I get some cash to get the cup holder with the lid. My plan it to add rubber grommets on the holes with a flex tube so I can update or change out the USB cable when needed.

Do you know which hub that one person who integrated a hub used? I tried two different USB hubs and could not get the Stinger to recognize USB devices (my phone or a flash drive with mp3s) plugged in to either.

No, it was a while ago. I have to find one but, first I have to think of away to keep my console organized. I ran a cable couple weeks back.
