So I go back and forth on this and most times I keep coming back to the stinger but on the used market right now (9/2019) these two are appearing in the same range (right at 35k). MSRP the genesis costs more but on the used market you kinda get more with the G80 sport including things like wireless charging and 360 camera heated rare seats etc. Yes I know the 19 GT2 comes with those features as well but those are quite a bit higher right now. Ultimately I keep coming back to the stinger just because the look is so unique but sometimes the G80 really gets me thinking. Anyone else?

If I've seen a G80, I couldn't tell you. Looks like any number of sedans.. of course the grill is hideous, but that style is on a lot of vehicles these days.

For me it's no contest, but my '19 has all the features you mention. The 360 cam was a requirement - I waited for the '19 for that reason.

I agree that the Stinger is the more sporty/athletic looking of the two. I’ve also seen the G80 sport in person and on the road and it does have a premium presence. Yes they are different audiences but as a touring car they both accomplish that very well.

If that's you opinion for looks, then it makes sense to get more features.

Is there any leg room in the back of the G?

Great thread, I grappled with this idea myself. I owned an Equus, the predecessor to the G90. This car was very reliable. I originally was going to buy a slightly used G80. 80% of my driving is just cruising along. 20% of my driving is vigorous. The G80 is much more of a pure luxury car. You can get it w/ the 3.3 turbo, or the V8. It is a great car.

I also drove the G70. It is a little bit more of a pure sports car compared to the Stinger. It is more nimble than the Stinger, with a shorter wheel base. However, the Stinger is a more comfortable cruiser. In comfort mode it is much more smooth than the G70.

The Stinger presented the best combination of luxury and sportiness. I also love how it looks. Better than the G70. With more than $11k off it became a no-brainer. If your budget is $35k, you are close to what you would pay for a new 2019 Stinger with a 3.3 turbo.

I think they are very close in specifically leg room but more overall back seat space in the G80. Trunk space and overall utility, stinger wins that hands down.

We hated the high dashboard in the G80 - it's like it has another 2-3 inches of stuff on top of the Stinger dash (that's how it feels). Made it even harder to see out of towards the front.

If your going for the features and overall comfort then the G80, want to have some fun/practicality/stand out, then the GT2. Both great cars, I came from a K900(lots of features) a bit bigger then the G80, but at the end of the day for me its the way the stinger drove. TEST DRIVE

Did you drive the Sport or just the 3.8? My understanding is that they have very different personalities. That said I don’t disagree with your conclusion. I had an Acura RL before trying to be practical with the 2.4 optima...

Yup, I’ve got nothing in response lol, it’s not that the G80 is bad but I very much like the stance of the stinger. Not surprised this audience does as well . Truth is, if it was all about looks, for me, it’s no question. But the question is about the total package and what you pay for it. If you step back from the subjective and just objectively compare the offerings it’s actually quite a bit closer a comparison.

I'm in love with my GT and think it's one of the best-looking cars on the road today. However, the G80 is beautiful too and looks more classy, refined. The GT looks more sleek and sporty. You can't go wrong with either car once you weigh all of the features.

Yes, I find the stinger more aggressive. To me your more towards the G80, take them for another drive.

I don’t think I’m more towards the G80, the stinger is my subjective choice for many of the reasons previously stated by others. For months I’ve been hell bent on a used 18GT2 and as I’ve been watching the used market I started to see g80 sports in the same price range which is the reason I started this thread because feature for feature there is a ton of overlap and I’m very much torn between them at that 33-35k price point if I’m being honestly objective about the decision. I really wish someone who had a g80 sport and switched to the stinger would chime in haha or vice versa.

For us, the G80 dash was a deal-breaker. Just felt WAY too tall. Plus, the center console is SO wide. I like the features and visibility of the G80, but the seating in the Stinger is better FOR US.

If it were me and my choice between these two, I'd take the lease incentives and get a 2019 GT2 for about $39,000.

Whether you buy a G80 or a Stinger, you can't go wrong. Both are great cars.

If my cousin was in town today, I would go park my Stinger beside his G80. It’s a hard choice, are the extra features on the G80 are things that would even be used? The interior of the stinger is better, and stinger sounds cooler, lol.

This might be an option by the time I’m ready to buy. My wife is due an upgrade first and we’re hoping prices will stabilize on the tellurides by next summer, so I suppose I’ll keep watching to see what’s on the market at that time. There is a slim chance that I’ll get to go first but the 2019 GT2 May be the play if the numbers make sense.
