so I bought a used lap3 uncle chip for my 2019 GT2. I saw that it can be swapped to other vehicles; not one car specific.

I installed HKS spark plugs since it is required. (BTW it was one of the worst installs I have experience but didn’t it without taking out the manifold like in the TORK video)

I installed the lap3 uncle chip as per every video I saw on YouTube ( not crazy just clipping connectors). Turned the car on and the check engine light came one. Went to the back of the car and unplugged the negative connector of the battery and then connected backend turned the car on and the check engine light turned off.

But once I turned it off and turned it back on the light came back on. Not only that but my trunk wasn’t automatically closing like it usually does. I had to uninstall/disconnect the uncle chip since the check engine light was worrying me.

HELP! Anybody experienced or know what to do? Could the chip be faulty or do I have to do soemthing in order for the check enjoined light to go off and the uncle chip to work properly?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

When you connected the chip did you notice if there was a flashing green light on the unit? If not, is there an alternating red and green flash, or no light at all? If not flashing green, that could be your issue. Mine wasn't connected propeply and I got a CEL and limp mode. After reconnecting and seeing a flashing green, it was fine.

Thanks for the fast response!

When I first turned it on it was green and red but after like 3 seconds it started flashing green and stayed flashing green. It was strange though how o disconnected the battery it was fine but then turned back on after turning the car off

Hmmm.

Do you know what octane rating the chip is set on, and are you using that same octane level?

Beyond that I'm stumped too...

According to the guy that sold me it it’s 93 and that’s what I’m running too.

This sucks cause I really want it to work. I’m going to try again tomorrow and I’ll update

Yeah it does suck. Nothing worse than spending money on something that doesn't work right. *Looks at lap3 chip sitting on book shelf*

The only other thing I can think of is maybe switching the connection around just in case they're backward? Either way, good luck and keep us posted.

Not to be a negative nancy here... I would suggest you remove the module and start with the 91 octane setting! Take it slow on acceleration and listen out for audible detonation. If your not sure what it sounds like, do some research! I would personally take off the box and sell it. Save your money for the Pro Tuner! Its much safer, and has more features..... plus the power increase is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not yet I will contact them tomorrow though. Thanks
Flip the boost sensor connector so the discolored prong lines up with the purple wire I just helped someone on the Facebook group with this issue and also use the uncle chip at your own risk it’s an old outdated way to do it and it’s not the safest way. The pro tuner is much safer and an actual ecu tune is best.

I was planning on picking up the lap3 uncle chip just to ensure there is no discrepancy with the logs in the vehicle if i have to take it in for servicing as I read that they are able to see through logs of the vehicle when an ECU has been tampered with as it would be missing date stamps or something like that even if you swap out the ECU for a tune and reflash it. But since you stated that the uncle chip is unsafe can I ask what makes it unsafe? Was really hoping to get it since it is less than half the cost of the protuner and won't be detectable. Thanks in advance

Pro tuner is also undetectable but the old uncle chip came out some years ago and it just fools the car for more boost it’s the same chip what’s has been around for like 5-6 ish years and well it was never proven but my old sonata did not like it and talking with some dealers I found that the sonatas hate boost. Granted this is a stinger with much better parts I do not know how this chip will do in the long run but seeing as how my sonata took out 2 engines , one was a head gasket and the other was an oil ring. I did not trust it after that. I was also told that that universal chip is to be used at your own risk. But the pro tuner is not an ecu tune it just a dynamic uncle chip eth at reads and maps different things to make a smoother better combustion with more power. I hope this helps I don’t like bashing products but my gut told me to not put that particular chip on the stinger just Incase

I appreciate you taking the time and providing this information. True the stinger is built with better parts and can handle the stress from what people are putting down. But then again time will tell. There were a few that had gone with the uncle chip and had good success with it. It's just 1200+ for the protuner instead of 500+ for the uncle chip. I'll probably wait it out a bit and see how it goes with the protuner and the uncle chip on other stingers. Thanks again for the info. Much appreciated.

I'll have a review soon as the wind decides to quit!!!....It's a simple install but it's just too cold no sign of warming up for awhile either.

Installed the uncle chip lap 3.....definate pedal feel.......car wants to go even in ''eco'' !.....This will definately hit the mpg's!! . I'm pretty much sold on the purchase, used.
To the op, make sure the plug in has the purple wire going to the blank connection on the vehicle harness, each plug has 4 wires that lead into the plug..........this could be your problem, I'm feeding her 91 when I can (91 tune) but she gets 93 every now and then. Zero issue's and plenty of punch!!
