US/CAN: Possible all-glass infotainment screen on the Stinger?

For what it's worth, there are photos & videos of review models starting to appear on Twitter for the Stinger event this week (#StingerIsHere), and the cars are GT2 models based on the presence of the E-Shifter, but they indeed do not have the SVM View button on the console, and the camera bump on the front radar sensor is nowhere to be found. So that is disappointing. They do have the "upgraded" infotainment screen though.

You're right, the most recent videos are looking at a red GT Stinger without the SVM button and camera module on the front, but....

....there are another set of pics with a blue Stinger that clearly has the camera module up front. Maybe it's a fully loaded GT2 or GT2 with AWD? Kia was lumping in auto rain sensing wipers only with AWD, maybe they're doing the same thing with the SVM.

Regardless, the infotainment screen is an upgrade I'm glad to see. I plan on using Android Auto more often than not, so the navigation software didn't concern me, but the original infotainment screen with the glossy piano black bezels looked decidedly cheap and outdated in my eyes, especially in a $50k car. If Kia needed the time to retrofit U.S. spec cars to include the new screen, it was worth the wait.

There's a hotel that I have to travel to on a fairly regular basis for work and the circular drive in front of the lobby where the valets park the cars in the morning is very, very tight and narrow. Having the SVM would be a huge benefit there.
That is a very good point as to why this feature is important. I can hear most people saying we shouldn't need a surround view camera or view or whatever - but there are times when it's very good to have...

Being a low slung vehicle with a long hood and a lower front bumper lip, the surround view camera should come in handy to prevent curb rashes. For me, this and the front parking sensors are good to have.

Not to mention from what I've seen, looking out the back window is like looking through a porthole. IMO soround view AND the blind spot monitor should be a requirement/standard feature in EVERY stinger.

Yeah, I was surprised at just how little rear visibility there was.

I just wish that KIA corporate would tell its employees and dealers to stop telling me that "of course it will have 360, since the Optima and Cadenza have it." (I've been told this by 7 people now.) It's like promising me chocolate, and then only giving it to the other kids and making me eat candy corn.

I will let you guys know tomorrow. I will have a GT2 model to drive. Also, the auto rain sensing wipers come as an add on to the ADAS package.

First, thank you for looking into this for the community here.

So the GT2 (were ADAS is standard) has two stand alone options? AWD and rain sensing wipers? Why have rain sensing wipers as a stand alone option? I assumed that AWD and rain sensing wipers were bundled, like Genesis does with AWD and the heated steering wheel. To have rain sensing wipers as a single stand alone option just seems goofy.

My bad, on the GT2 it already has everything but AWD. Anything below the GT2 will have to get the ADAS package for the auto sensing wipers. Funny you would mention the AWD and heated steering being together because for the Stinger it looks the same way. From what I have seen if you want the heated steering wheel you have to get AWD lol.

I will say this, I think I still see someone asking if we will get a cover for the cup holders, which we will not. Other than that what I will be paying attention for is the Surround View Monitor and Heated Rear Seats. Anyone want to add anything?

Hmmm.... The US is not a small market. I wish we got all the toys the other kids get. Maybe next year.

What headliner is going in the different models?

No idea honestly. I think it is the same in all trims but I can ask.

In other markets the gt lines are getting suede/alcantara headliners. Latest US video reviews are not showing that...

According to a WardsAuto review from Oct. 20th (http://wardsauto.com/test-drives/stinger-moonshot-kia-brand), "The top trim levels feature a microfiber material on the pillars and headliner similar to Alcantara," but they also said there was "real wood" trim in the cabin, which isn't true, so I, too, would appreciate verification. I've heard they have suede in England and Australia, but we know that's no guarantee we'll get it. (But then again, we get the best warranty, right?)

Thanks again for the assistance here.

I don't think your information is correct based on this:
https://www.kiamedia.com/us/en/models/stinger/2018/features

Here is what I would like confirmed, if possible.

ADAS package costs what?

ADAS includes:
  • FCA
  • FCWS
  • LKA
  • LDWS
  • DAW
  • HBA
  • BCW
  • RCCW
  • SCC
ADAS does NOT include rain sensing wipers.

If you want rain sensing wipers you must purchase AWD.

A heated steering wheel is standard on ALL trim levels. Round on 2.0T models. Flat-bottomed on all 3.3T models.

The US market will NOT be getting a 360 degree camera, rear heated seats and wireless charging.

Hm no 360 camera, no wireless charging, no cupholder cover... Car better be selling under 50k fully loaded otherwise I'll be waiting until they get them or buying something else. Can't sell a 50k car now without the 360. Might not even want it without the 360. That's going to be standard in 25k cars in 2 years and cause even worse depreciation. KIA sounds like they are screwing the pooch on a good thing.
