Upgraded

Did you have the Phaeton with the W12? That this was so cool. Made no sense at all, but I geek out over stuff like that

No. However, I couldn’t get CarPlay to work. I went to the dealer, the salesman was not successful. Going in for service Monday @ 9:00 AM. Crown Kia in St. Petersburg gave me puddle lights as part of the deal. Has anyone had puddle lights as a dealer install instead of at the POE?

What features made you go through with the trade in? Why not a GT2?

GT2 has Quilted Nappa Leather Seat Trim
- Head-Up-Display
- Surround View Monitor
- Front Passenger Seat w/ Power Lumbar Support - Heated Rear Outboard Seats
- Smart Power Trunk
- Shift-by-Wire Gear Selector

I didn’t think the GT2 warranted the extra price. Also, a G70 has 4 inches less wheelbase.

The GT1 features I wanted:

- Power Sunroof with Sunshade
- Navigation System w/ 8" Touchscreen
- Harman/Kardon® Premium Audio w/ Clari-Fi#
- Ventilated Front Seats
- Memory Driver Seat, Stg Whl, Outer Mirrors
- Power Tilt and Telescoping Steering Wheel
- Forward Collision Avoidance - Pedestrian
- Smart Cruise Control w/ Stop & Go
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
- Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
- High Beam Assist (HBA)
- Rain Sensing Wipers
- 7" LCD Color Instrument Cluster with Sport Gauges - UVO eServices (5 yr trial; see owners.kia.com for
details)
My wife wants this to be my last car. I can live with this car for a long time. I’m 73...

Okay that’s understandable, I also have a GT1 (2019). The upgrades between the GT and GT1 are definitely more drastic than from GT1 to GT2. The only features I wish I could add are the surround view and power trunk. Hopefully your new ride will live up to your wife’s expectations.

You did the right thing by upgrading :) Personally I went in looking at a GT1 and ended up getting a GT2. The HUD and 360 surround cameras were a game changer to me. I love having my turn by turn directions and speed right where my eyes should be, and the cameras make parking child's play.

The power trunk is a nice convenience (I wish it didn't beep at me when I walk behind the car though) and the shift-by-wire looks and feels nice but doesn't really do anything. Some folks don't like it, but I have zero issue with it.

Overall I probably could have saved some money and gone with the GT1 or GTS, they're great values, but I'm definitely happy I went with the GT2.

You can turn off that beep by shutting off the smart trunk feature, it will still be power trunk but won't auto open when you stand behind it. You would have to use the button on the trunk or on the fob.

Seeing a lot of posts about how dope the GT1 is compared to the GT. I bought a GT like two weeks ago due to the price difference and now I can't stop thinking about how much I wish I had the extra 5k for a GT1. I love my car, but no moon roof, no ventilated seats (i live in az), no adaptive cruise control, etc leaves me with quite a bit of trim envy.

Was yours a lease trade in?

You might as well go for the GT2. The Heads Up Display alone is worth it (at least to me). Also, I don't know what sales are going on in your area but when I bought my GT2 a few weeks ago, the dealership I purchased from was over $9500 in rebates on the car.

Ha, yeah. Every upgrade to this car is an insane amount of value compared to many other manufacturer's offerings. I mean I think I just need to live with what I have for a year or two (awww poor me, only having a 3.3L twin turbo highway rocket lol) and then check out the trade in offers to get a new one with all the bells and whistles. This is my first new car so it's expected that there would be a lot of buyers regret, and I see why this is a decision most people do not rush.

All the upgrades from GT to GT1 are worthwhile, as are the upgrades from GT1 to GT2 imo. I just don't have the extra 5-10k right now.
