Upgrade to Power Trunk on the Base GT?

It has already been proven that you can add the wireless charger to our cars and it works fine so I am assuming that I should be able to do this as well. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know the part numbers for the lifts and button?

Does the base GT have the "Smart Trunk" option in the settings menu on the dash? Or, perhaps it shows up once the power "lifters" are plugged in.

The wireless charge option is not there until you install the charger and then it magically appears. Hopefully this is the same.

That would be nice to have especially now that I'm getting a rear spoiler for it.

FWIW, both sides appear to be powered so you would need to upgrade both. I drove a base GT during the Experience tour and all the wires seem to be routed in the same place. Hopefully that means the power connectors or harness are right there for you

Damn I called the dealer and the power struts are only $58.00 each and the Button is another $50.00. Going to rip it apart tonight and see if there are wires there for the struts and button.

Well that was depressing. I removed the cover for the empty button hole as well as the pull handle so I could get a good look. There are definitely no extra wires to plug a button into. I also do not see any wires running to where the struts themselves go. Sorry to get people's hopes up. After the wiring for the wireless charger was there I hoped this might be doable as well.

Hmmm...$58 for the power strut?? When i asked my dealer i was quoted $600+ for each side. One us got quoted the incorrect part.

No worries! I think it still doable once we got an access to the wiring harness for the power trunk.

You'd also need the power trunk module as well (located behind the carpet in the driver side trunk fender well.)
