Upgrade to 20inch wheels

Hi all,

I am the proud owner of a 2018 Kia Stinger GT and have had it for about 6 months now, lots of fun.

I was looking to do some after market modifications but am a bit of a novice when it comes to this. I would like to put on some 20 inch rims, however in reading a previous thread it is not as easy as just buying new rims, and that there needs to be consideration around shocks and springs. Can anyone provide some advice around this as I would like to keep it within budget and need to weigh up if I proceed or not? Looking to de-badge and increase HP to 400 as well.

Any advice on the wheel upgrade welcome, cheers!

Did you come across this thread? Wheel/size/offset and tire/size/profile...can be confusing.

It's certainly not straight-forward, but seeking out a fitment that someone else has verified with pictures is a great way to start.

Howdy and welcome. That thread posted above is the "bible" of the forum on the subject of wheels and tires.

TL;DR, would be that 20" wheels clear struts/suspension with more offset, because the inner rim is further away.

Other things to consider are resulting OD: to maintain the OEM OD as closely as possible, your aspect ratio is going to decrease, i.e., you will have a thinner sidewall, and a harsher ride and greater risk of damaged rims from potholes and suchlike. And you said that more horsepower is wanted: a stiffer tire (thinner sidewall) will be more prone to breaking traction.
