Hey guys I’ve heard from other that when installing these you will need to add burger motorsports EWG wires to preven overboost. Some have also said you won’t need to. Any thoughts or personal experiences?

Get them either way.

I had the 3.3T - Ultimate Performance HFC Downpipe + Mid Pipe Combo Kit installed in Dec, and once I took the vehicle for its first drive, and came on throttle, the car went into "limp mode" and it wouldn't create any boost.

The car had the following codes:
1. P04300 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
2. P023400 Turbocharger/Supercharger System Overboost Condition

I was able to clear these codes and the check engine light (CEL) did not come back on, however if I tried to spool the turbo’s up (more than 50% throttle), the same problem would happen. This could only be reset by turning the car off and then on again, and although the CEL never returned, the problem still persists.

I also have the following engine modifications; Stillen Air Intake, Velossa Tech Big Mouth Ram Air & Mishimoto Intercooler, so the engine is definitely being fed with lots of air and there is not a lot of restriction with the down pipe kit.

I have just purchased a JB4 with PNP fuel wire adapters, EWG's and HKS plugs.
I'll being installing the JB4 once the weather improves and I hope that this will solve my issues.

I will definitely post my results once these items are added.

Sounds like your on the right track. But I’d get the JB4 in straight away and try to get to the bottom of this asap.

you will over boost if your not running the ewg wires with first or secondary cat delete , period

Definitely need the EWG add on to prevent overboost conditions and limp mode.

Did the JB4 with the fuel wires solve your problem with the overboost issues with the ultimate Perfomance downpipe midpipe combo ?

Hey…sorry to anyone who is monitoring this thread for not posting my results, as I installed everything this Tues (Apr 12th), and WOW….what a difference!

I installed the JB4 w/ the fuel wire adapters, the EWG wires and the HKS plugs, and this eliminated my over-boost & limp mode issues 100%. So happy that I can now enjoy my car without worrying about throwing a code and loosing all boost.

Haven’t had a chance to capture any data logs for analysis but plan on doing so this week as I’m curious if everything is working to it’s true potential, but so far I’m thoroughly impressed to say the least.

Good to hear bro. What Catback do you have with that setup ? Glad the ewg and fuel wires were able to solve that . Can’t wait to get my up kit

Honestly, this is the one reason why I would consider adding something like this. So far I've only had an overboost condition while completely stock once and it absolutely sucked.

And what map is it thats impressing you.

I haven’t touched the exhaust…yet, but had the Ultimate Performance HFC Downpipe and Midpipe Combo Kit installed.
I just bought these from someone on here, I plan on likely leaving the exhaust on my '22 stock. Have you noticed much difference in exhaust sound with that setup?

The downpipes definitely open up the exhaust more. Gets much louder, especially cold starts.

I wish I could tell you any difference that I noticed between before and after the install, however I never drove my car with the original factory setup….I ordered my Scorpion direct from Kia, and when it arrived at the dealership, they installed all of the modifications before I took possession of the vehicle.

I will say that I don’t find the sound to be loud, cheap, childish, annoying or obnoxious like some other vehicles….(Honda's or VW’s come to mind in my neck of the woods) but compared to the stock sound, I can’t really describe the difference.

Fair enough. Pretty tight that the dealership installed the modifications for you, actually.

Where did you live and how did the dealership agree to install this as I heard it is a quite a job ?

Before I ordered any of my mods, I visited the service department and spoke with their master tech and provided them with a list, and the specific details of each part and asked them about warranty implications. They had no issues with anything except they couldn’t give me the green light for installing the JB4, so no tune was performed by the dealer.
They did the complete install and I was able to drive off the lot without worrying about my 10yr 200,000 km warranty.
My dealership was and has been great throughout this entire process.
