Unichip in AU

Hi Terra

So you noticed decent gains on map 1 ? I'm really torn between the two.
They are similar systems but we can expect a lot more to come with the JB4. I wonder what sort of power can be reached with a E85 tune ;).
I also like the fact you can change maps of your phone, read and clear codes etc.
Did you buy the additional fuel control wires ?
Yes noticed gains on map 1 decent well, decent for the first step.

I missed out on the fuel wires. They got released the week after receiving my JB4.

Agree if you like to have more adjustable things to play with, then go JB4

Found this company on the web doing Unichip upgrades.
Kia

No worries Stinger GT SS

I'm tossing up between the Unichip
The JB4 (which I previously owned on a BMW 335i)
and the local HPF flash tune straight to the ECU

I had my mind made up on the JB4 knowing how to use it already plus the great support and future R&D.
But I would prefer not to touch the plugs, besides the JB4 they claim no re-gapping of the plugs is required

The JB4 is hands down the best piggyback product out there, and one of the least expensive. None of these other tunes can do what the JB4 can do. That said if warranty isn't a concern flashing the car gives you a few extra options, but also more areas to make mistakes, if the tuner doesn't set it up right. Even if you get a flash tune you can still use the JB4 for wireless logging to your phone and fine tuning for higher boost maps on demand, valet map, etc.

People blow plugs on stock tuning so anyone claiming big power on the stock plug gap is probably under-informed on the platform. When they have 100 customers running that way, or 10, then I'll believe it. Until then plan on regapping the stock plugs no matter what tune you do.

Hi Terry please see attached screen shot, I would appreciate to hear your thoughts on what’s mentioned on the torque signal to the gearbox.

Does the JB4 perform similar ?

Thanks

You can do a few things with flash tuning that are not possible to do with a piggyback, and raising internal calculated torque is one of them. But of course the problem with flash tuning is you instantly void your warranty and/or lease agreement. In addition when changing the internal tables there is a lot more than can go wrong if not done properly and tested over a wide range of conditions that aftermarket tuners rarely do. There is a fundamental trade off.

Based on our JB4 testing the trans shifts perfectly at the ~420whp level with the JB4, after many 1/4 mile runs, so I suspect the factory mapping to the trans is already maxing out it's line pressure.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Thanks for getting back to me Terry.

Looks like its time to purchase my second JB4 then :)

No problem keep us posted on your decision.
Hi Stinger GT SS

I bit the bullet and went with the JB4, with the latest tuning results Terry has gained 120whp out of the unit and I know there will be more to come. I was also tossing up the Unichip as you know but I don’t believe there will be a lot of future R&D from them and it sounds like they were still having trouble getting there exhaust system right so I also went out and purchased a ARK grip cat back exhaust. I also plan to buy the stillen intake system when it becomes more available. Now to buy some Denso plugs and see if I can pluck up the courage to install the plugs myself or find a mechanic I trust to change them for me.

Cheers

Dyll

Hi @D-C

Congrats on your choice, I hope is delivers everything you want & more, you have also made a good choice. I’m hearing you on the R&D that’s why I am doing research, reading & information gathering on all that’s available & also based on owner experiences. For me it’s still early days to go down this path, although tempting to jump in, I’m happy to wait another 12 months or so to see what these items bring & how the current standard drivetrain will hold up to power gains.
In the meantime enjoy what you are doing with your car & please post pics & vids of your results.

Have fun....

Thanks Mate

Considering I have owned the JB4 on my 335i and being knowledgeable of its use it became a no brainer in the end, plus I got a healthy discount on all items and the exhaust as a tester.

I wiil certainly keep the modding information flowing :)
