Unexpected competition from... Buick?

The new Regal is going to be nice. That sure does look like a nice place to see. I like the interior. What's the high performance version of the Commodore like?

This current Commodore (image above) and it's high performance derivatives are the same as your Chevy SS. It will no longer be in production from October.

Then this Opel (image below) will be imported under the same name. I have no idea what sort of "performance" model will be offered (none, so I've read). Only V6 and turbo 4, maybe AWD too, but because it is not a RWD based car either, the sport pedigree will always be questioned.

It's a good looking car so far, but the origins of the design and engineering are nothing like that of the kia stinger. That is a big consideration for me, but most car buyers would not have a clue (or care to anyway!).

UPDATE here; definitely NO PERFORMANCE variant in Australian as Holden Commodore, confirmed. So this is not a "drivers car" far as I can read between these lines, no matter what they spew to the media. Reducing weight also normally means increases in NVH levels (...I'm talking to you too, Mazda! notoriously loud for road noise);

Very interesting, app_master. I do know that if this is coming over as a Buick, it'll get Buick's "quiet tuning". So it won't be loud like a Mazda. If it's losing a lot of weight it won't be the sound deadening material that goes away. For Buick, that's for sure. So I wonder if we'll be getting the GS here in the states.

The Regal GS isn't going anywhere. It's the Opel Insignia Grand Sport.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The Regal should actually handle pretty well. The 3.6 V6 with at least 310hp will most likely be the top motor. The turbo 4 will probably have 250hp.

It looks pretty composed at the Nurburgring.

The current Regal doesn't have a v6 at all so that would be an improvement. But for God's sake 310 horse power is weak for that big an engine these days. Bring it to 350 with a good torque curve and that could make for a fairly respectable GS.

Well it is naturally aspirated. At least with no turbos in the way it should sound pretty good.
