Under-Seat Subwoofer Issues

I want to second someone about the speakers need to be broken in.

I kind of bashed the speakers quality when I first got the Stinger, I have to admit, they sound much much better now.

You gotta wear them in slowly, they are fine give them time to loosen up.! Proven over many posts.

Wondering what crossover frequency settings KIA uses for those subwoofers, if you own Hi-Fi system you know about that term. By comments here it sounds as it's low enough %)

The more I listen to the system in my gt2 I feel like the subs are not working. The door speakers are so good that they compensate for the missing sub. I have faded it many different ways to see if I can feel it working with my hands and (butt) lol. Nothing works to make me believe it’s working. The super low bass is never good because all I hear is the mids in the doors. If I am alone on this feeling I will wave it alone but if not I’m going to the dealership.

I think my GT2 sound system, sounds great! Yes, the subs aren't as hard hitting and deep but I can definitely hear the bass and feel it especially at +10 with much of the rap music I listen to. EDM as well. I have mine at +5 I think it is the right balance.

It took mine awhile - put paper over it to see if moving. There's already a thread on this topic with more details. I didn't think mine were working either for the first month.

I didn't think mine were working either but you really have to turn it up to feel it.

Yes, mine are deeper and louder than expected...can easily overpower the other music...mine is set to 2 or 3 and it is plenty loud...especially on SXM

There is a long thread about it but it takes a lot of time to break them in. They hit much harder when broken in. I was severely dissatisfied at first now love it.

Yep, this topic has been beaten to death, hey Sal can you please merge this, I don’t think I could handle another thread on this subject....no offence to anyone.

Mine are not like that all. They are up to 8 and still don't really make a difference.

You have a separate setting for the subs? Or do you mean you turned the bass up to 8, which will not affect the subs? I have everything set at neutral (0 and dead centre with no Advanced stuff on) and there is a LOT of bass. Use a high quality source instead of crap MP3's through a Bluetooth phone and you will hear (and feel) plenty of bass.

Bass... so there ya go!

I don't feel it either. But I never go too loud in terms of vocals. I have the bass at +5. So by the time I go to 10 or 11 the door bass is kicking too hard. Maybe I should turn it down and try turning it up. See if I can feel it.

I like being able to talk to my passenger with the music on and feel the bass though.

My take is that the crossover is set very low and it takes some truly low sounds in order for them to actually be piped through the subs. I saw it recommended to find some kind of a bass test on youtube and play it through your speakers (in PARK!).

Whew. Just got done reading all 15 pages.

Definitely sounds like this is largely a crossover setting issue. If the setting is low (which it sounds like it is), the sub will not fire at many of the "bass-y" parts that people are expecting. And given the size of the other speakers in the car, I would think you would want a HIGHER crossover (like 60 or 80) vs what seems to be very low here. That would lead to many more situations where the sub is firing and people can tell.

A number of people have raised it without much traction in the thread, and it does sound like something that will resolve many of the issues people posted.

I unfortunately do not have my GT2 yet, but has anyone messed around to see if the subwoofer crossover can be altered? I would guess, if at all, it will be a setting on the speaker not in the system...

I haven't been able to adjust the cross over settings. I am assuming that's some thing the dealer is going to have to go into the computer and mess with. The bass is good enough for me so I haven't messed with it.
