What a thing to start thinking about after over six years of driving! If the mm difference (not cm as in your post, you might want to change that) is close to 10mm new, and the rears wear down twice as fast, and 10mm difference is the recommended limit, it sounds like I should have been replacing my rears at least twice as often as I have been. But I've never felt any sort of "chatter". My car is buttery smooth. I think that this policy is an overabundance of caution on KIA's part. Perhaps so that they have an "out" should the AWD fail on some vehicles. I've never heard of even a single incident where AWD components failed with a staggered setup.

Perhaps this official Kia "Pitstop" publication is just Kia propaganda material to smooth the sale of new tires.
