I recently had a chance to spend a week behind the wheel of a 2017 Kia Niro Touring and I came away from the experience impressed with the driving dynamics and the loaded cabin of the roomy hybrid hatchback.

The closest competitor to the Kia Niro is the Toyota Prius, but the Korean hybrid feels more like a small SUV than a compact hatchback. At the same time, the fact that the Niro is not offered with all-wheel-drive and it has a relatively low stance prevents it from fitting into the small crossover segment, so it is kind of in a class of its own.

Segment classification aside, the Kia Niro is a great hybrid hatchback with a premium interior – perfect for someone who wants a vehicle that has more interior space than the Prius with the predictably-impressive hybrid driving advantages, including all-electric driving. These vehicles are pretty phenonmal. We sell quite a few of them.

I think the Niro is actually a pretty cool looking car and the electric version they announced could sell a ton.

Saw this at the dealership as well, was told it's their best seller. Specs look great, and personally I'd pick it over a Prius too.

Loved my niro while I had it 14 months. Never avg less than 53mpg on a fillup. Recently upgraded to the stinger.

I keep seeing this space commercial for it. But I’ve been meaning to look it up.

They should add AWD to it.

If it's added, won't be til the next gen model and even then, maybe not.

Reason would be that the new Soul likely will be getting AWD and definitely will be getting the same BEV system that's in the Kona EV.

They are sharp looking, saw one driving the other day, night lines and lights, also has the cool little teturized part on the bumper that says "niro" like the stinger has..

BUT no awd made this thing not even a consideration for my fiance.

My son has one and absolutely loves it, traded his Soul in for it and still has his Forte. Yes, we are a Kia family. There 6 Kia's right now in the immediate family between 3 kids and 1 lonely Hyundai...lol
