Kia is recalling certain 2019-2020 K900 and 2018-2023 Stinger sedans with a 3.3-liter turbocharged engine due to concerns that the left turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly may deteriorate and leak oil.

I talked to my shop I've been doing business with for 40 years. They said get it done. They are fixing lots of cars (of all makes) that have twin turbo setups because of excessive heat and resulting damage. It's a real problem.

Unfortunately, only the dealer is authorized to do the work. And my dealership is 80 miles away and they are idiots. I dread taking my car to them. Once was enough.

So my dilemma is wait for the defect to burn up my beloved Stinger... or risk repeated visits to the dealer for badly done work.

I’ll get mine done when I reach high mileage. Doesn’t make sense at 18k.

I haven't changed my mind on this. I have over 68K miles, but never even a drop of lubricants on my driveway or carport. Unless or until I see the first manifestation of oil leaking Ima not taking my car in for this one anytime soon. I'll keep it in mind of course, who could forget? But Ima not stressing over it. Possibly the vehicles that have issues with this get the turbos going a lot. I don't. Most of my driving is "normal", sedate acceleration, and even if a bit of quick passing or acceleration happens it is very brief and not repeated for long periods in between. Typically. A couple of Sundays ago I did some launches, testing out the "launch control active" screen, how and when it comes up, but I don't think that I've done another launch since then. So, my turbo "heat" has to be very minimal, and therefore any failure of the hose has to be delayed a bunch.
