Trying not to void my warranty

Ok, so hear me out. I've just picked up a 2019 Kia Stinger GT2 with 17k miles and a spotless body, powertrain, and history. I'm unbelievably excited, especially given i'm 19 years old. I payed extra for a 72 month 75,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on the vehicle. As such, i'd very much like to avoid voiding this lovely warranty. Now this leaves me in a curious situation. I'd love to slap an intake, intercooler, full cat back exhaust, and tune on the blue zoomer, but clearly i cannot. Question is, what CAN i do? my dealer said i should be safe doing work on the muffler only but I don't know if i could to anything else. So just wondering if anyone has any experience here. At bare minimum i'd love to get the stinger sounding as fast as it really is.

Yeah me too. I don’t want to void my warranty but did mod my car. If anything happens, put the parts back to stock!

I feel like it'd be pretty damn easy to install and then subsequently remove a pair of short ram air intakes, and same going for the mufflers. I mean a tune is pretty much out of the question so all i could do with exhaust before a tune is necessary is to remove the mufflers or go high flow.

Anything can void your warranty IF they decide it was the cause of a failure...
If you are mainly looking for improvement in the sound experience, exhaust for sure, intake will give you more turbo noise, (but not power) a set of K&N drop in filters is a middle ground for turbo noise drop ins and exhaust are pretty safe. Sway bars are a great upgrade as well but they don't make noise ;-)

If I were considering taking the risk of putting on an aftermarket intake, and removing it in case i need work...what would you recommend in terms of short rams or cold air intakes? same question for exhausts (not full systems, but i guess cat backs or simply the muffler) as i'd love some good sound but don't want anything too invasive. And of course any recommendations for sway bars?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Your best bet is to talk to all of the dealers that are local to you and see what their specific mod policy is, as every dealers policy will be different. for example, my dealer basically doesn't care about mods at all and will let me do whatever I wish, while another dealer would fight me every step of the way if I put on an intake. its very wishywashy.

Congrats on the stinger purchase, hopefully you get it for a fair price in this market.

Intake and Exhaust would be very difficult for KIA to try to claim had any cause for premature part failure.
Many users on the forum run them and leave them on when they go to KIA for service.

JB4 piggyback ecu will allow you to get more tuned power, and be easy to remove before you go in for service

Another upgrade I highly suggest is an oil catch can to reduce oil (and thus carbon) on the valves.
Also +1 on recommending sway bars, big improvement in handling

When I go in to KIA, I leave my Air Scoops on, but remove the catch can and JB4.

Howdy and welcome. Bone stock drivetrain here, but have front and rear Eibach sway bars, which I very much enjoy, as I am into handling and the stock 3.3L is more than enough power for me. I like a quiet cabin too. No added exhaust noise. Enjoy your quest.

Check out my thread I just bumped with the Megan Racing Catback. It's another good option to kick around. There's a place that sells it for $625. Even comes with new bolts and gaskets. I've received a lot of compliments on it.

I guess my only main concern is that my warranty is through the dealer i bought it from, which was aftermarket and not technically from Kia. I imagine that changes some things but i was under the assumption that there was an act in the mid 70's that (as you said) prohibits any dealer from denying your warranty unless you caused the failure. If that still holds true then its intake, cat back, sway bar, and tune time.

Anything you do can be cause for them to deny a claim [whether they're right or not is irrelevant when waiting on and battling for a repair], so if you're that worried don't mod. ^^^ This reply, otherwise.

Most aftermarket warranties will give you more flak over maintenance records and aftermarket parts than the factory.
IMO, aftermarket will try to find any reason to deny a claim, one common one they will use is that there was a pre-existing condition.

Why would you remove the catch can? JB4 I can understand. The catch can is actually protecting your car. Since I installed all my stuff, I go into my dealer with it still on. They have never said anything. Other than my JB4, I can't see anything I've installed possibly creating an issue down the road.

Just to not give KIA something to argue. Sure I will likely "win" ... after how long in court without a car.
Intake and exhaust has become pretty accepted so I dont worry on that, but I could see some service manager wanting to be an a**hat about a catch can.

Catch can modifies the emission system and dealer can void the emission warranty.

I am sure some stealerships would try to claim it was the reason for a lubrication system failure too.

So yeah, I can spend 15-20 minutes removing OCC while I am also taking out JB4
