So, today I took my vehicle into my local Firestone where I get all my vehicles aligned, and they told me that they could not align it because they did not have the software for Kia and their Lane keeping assist/adaptive cruise control. Now, I don’t know what that has to do with the alignment of the wheels, but, either way, they couldn’t get the car aligned and now I have to take it to the dealer. Has anyone else run into this issue? Is the dealer the only place I can get it aligned?

That sounds odd. I had mine done at Tires Plus this week with no issue.

Heading there tomorrow. If they’re anything like Ford dealers, I completely expect my car to be damaged while they have it.
Sad, but that has been my experience with dealerships.

Eh? They need special stuff if replacing the windshield or doing a recalibration for whatever other reason, but not just for an alignment.

It's worth spending time at the shop and getting to know the techs. e.g., I know the a few of the guys at my local firestone, and I know the one dude that is actually good at alignments, works on classic cars, and has his own projects. So I make sure he's the one that lays hands on my cars.
The front desk guys are usually pretty open about who's working, who's been around the longest, what experience they have, that kind of stuff. And they're usually happy when someone shows an interest in their car and the work being done.

I’m the same way at my firestone station. They have only one guy that I trust and they recommend to align our 65 Mustang, and another that does the alignment on my highly modified 88 Mustang. I’ve met and talked to both, and they’re both enthusiast like me.

Firestone told me the same thing about a year ago. I took it to the dealer.

Then after lowering, the dealer couldn't get it in their alignment rack, so I took it to NTB. They did a good job and they have package deals. I'd recommend them if you have a good NTB near you.

So, I got the Stinger aligned today and was very impressed with the dealership. Everything from The service advisor to the waiting room was impressive. There’s even a massive window in the waiting room looking into the very clean service bays.
Alignment was complete in about 45 min and I left a very happy customer.
Props to Southwest Kia of north Austin.

You got a good one! I like the viewing window idea. All service centers should employ that feature.

Me too my dealership is impeccable, recently got mine done and was done fast, cheaply and they did not damage anything, its just people complaining that ALL dealers are shit. (no I don't own a dealership).

Which dealership was this?

Each car has it specifications for how it should be aligned. If they don't have the software updated at least they are telling you the truth.

Go to Meineke they are the only ones who don't charge an extra $60 for resetting sensor for LKA
