Hey all,

Few months back I traded in my 2018 Polar Ice G80 Sport with a few mods (Custom exhaust, JB4, intakes, etc.). I was originally going to be doing some travel so I picked up an affordable hybrid (I mean 40mpg on cheap gas vs 17mpg on premium was an immediate cost savings.... please don't laugh at me! haha).

Since then, we all know the story but my employer has realized travel is no longer necessary & working from home is our new norm. With that, I missed my G80 every day BUT, with all the hype around the stinger & a REALLY good deal on 2018 GT1 (half the price of a used g80 sport), I was a fool not to at least test drive a stinger... right?

Few test drives later, I found the winner about 2.5 hours from home. I am probably not the first to say this but I was very proud of the G80. I would see stingers often & would get a few to bite. The modded G80 was a monster so the stock stingers didn't have much on it. Now thinking back to the stock G80 vs my new stock stinger, it's almost laughable how much faster the stinger really is. A good chunk of weight difference, launch control, & a few other features quickly made me forget about the G80 & has me looking to the future.

I have on the wish list now a paint correction (previous owner clearly used sand paper or a wire brush to dry the car), ceramic coating, Borla catback, Injen intakes, JB4, & a few carbon parts to bring the weight down below the 4k mark. I think just those alone will give me enough fun.

My "moment" with the car was when I did 2 hours on the interstate (fairly comfortably for a sports car), had a few good pulls, pulled off the on ramp to a thumbs up from a genesis 5.0, looked at the MPGs & read 26.2mpgs. I smiled & realized, I made the right decision.

Happy to be apart of the community & looking forward to catching up to 3 years of knowledge from you all!

First off welcome! Second, yes the on ramps are a blast and I will on occasion, OK most of the time, will take the expressway home just to have an excuse to have some fun getting on to the expressway. Finally, how the heck are you getting such high MPG?! I must have a VERY heavy right foot.

Thanks for the warm Florida welcome =P

Driving i75 at 80mph using smart cruise control for 2 hours & mainly punching it a couple of times in a few dry spots. Being in Florida, I am sure you know it rains every 15 seconds so I really didn't have a chance to have too much fun. I am in the Tampa area myself & picked this up in Ft. Myers.

I can assure you that normal Tampa traffic will take me to about 17-18mpg IF I AM LUCKY.

I enjoyed reading your Intro -- very enthusiastic.

I am glad you are enjoying your Stinger.

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to learning more about your Stinger experiences.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Highway MPG is actually pretty impressive in the 3.3 Stinger. It’s city driving that kills it, especially if you have a heavy foot!

Guess I need to spend more time in Eco mode and not Sport. ;)

Enjoyed your intro (though by the looks of your join date, it was delayed a skosh :D). What color of "sandpapered" did you get?

I believe these forums are connected as that would be when I joined for my G80 sport. The stinger is 2 days new (to me!). I went with the aurora black or whatever it was simply because the other colors were all upwards of 5k more in the area. I can wrap it for cheaper should I decide to go gray or something else. This one had a few minor scrapes on the right side that came right out with some buffing so well worth the cost savings for me.

I went from a G80 3.8 to the Stinger because I decided the G80 is a great car...when you're retired, which for me is probably 15-20 years out. It was trouble-free for 3 years, but absolutely no driving pleasure other than sheer relaxation and decompression. You can't help but think "ahhhhh....." when you get in the G80. It's practically a spa on wheels.

I bought my Stinger in New Port Richey and drove it back down to Miami because Friendly Kia was the closest dealer that had a snow white/red RWD GT2 when I was shopping. Helped I was in Tampa for vacation in the G80 at the time. :p
