So I decided to take the car to a nice big empty parking lot turn stability control off and slide it around a bit. In doing this I learned it didn’t really want to slide and I feel like it was cutting power even with traction and stability switched off. The way I see it either the safety nets can’t acualy be turned off, the pilot sport 4 tires have a monsterous amount of grip or my first ever attempt at hooning a rwd car was down to user error.

Also I have a GT1 so no lsd

LSD should make drifiting easier since both rear wheels want to turn with more or less equal traction (or lack thereof.)

Probably a bit of all 3. You're also really limiting your sliding ability if you don't have the LSD on the GT2.

Well if nothing else i learned the car isn't going to suddenly spin out of control on hard cornering.

I have a 2.0 RWD and was able to do great donuts in the snow with just traction control off. I couldn’t upload a video of it here but check out my Instagram @ 1bryanvellozzi it’s on there.

GT 1 no LSD here also, and I'm more concerned about the way it cuts power with any attempt at a power over situation. I'm wondering if our non LSD stability and traction is tuned differently than a vehicle with an LSD. In other words...will it still cut power if we install an LSD?

I guess it doesn't matter, but is yours AWD or no?

I broke the rear loose on my first test drive of an AWD GT2 a year ago, on back-road I am intimately familiar with. The sales guy was visibly "quite surprised" but after a few more curves, relaxed a little.

I'm not bragging, but I do have track and race-school experience, and have 30-yr experience driving (and sometimes owning) performance vehicles. You can push any combination of options past their limits (I've done it in an R8 and LP560-4 on a race track) and the Stinger is no exception. Be careful, however, because it takes a LOT to get past those limits, and once you do, with this much weight, you'd better know how to reel it back in without even thinking.

This is why so many "average" wrecks these days are so severe. Modern cars are fabulous at maintaining traction and control, right until they don't, and then the average driver has no chance of recovering. I had one right outside my house this afternoon, slight curve, a little rain, in a Civic or similar. Just a little too fast, most here would quickly feel the change in steering and correct, most *not here* have no clue - resulted in a backwards curb jump into a tree, and a ride in an ambulance.

Think about how much better the Stinger is. Think about how much worse it will be when you go past those limits.

I managed to get my GT2 AWD fairly sideways on an off ramp after inducing a little oversteer. I'm not sure how the RWD's handle this type of maneuver, but a car that weighs this much and has this kind of tire on it from the factory does not like to stay sideways without a monsterous amount of throttle input.

It's a lot of weight, and the AWD just feels unnatural to me. I'll try it again, but when there is a little snow on the ground. lol

RWD for me, luckily all my training happened in a 240sx 10 yrs ago, which I still drive and Has almost 400whp...sideways and quick reactions are a norm in that car...but I agree, the limits are high in the stinger and the weight does have even myself wondering how it will react.

I intend to push it further when I find a safe area with the ability to runoff or even spin.

I am planning a track day at a local track and hoping for a little rain that day to help aid with the slides. I just feel the AWD can get dangerous on the roads since you are required to push the car so hard. Once you get that sucker loose, it's a lot of weight defying the laws of physics

I did a track day 2 weeks ago and did several siidpad runs. My stinger is awd and on my first go on the pad, big sweeping left hander I planted the throttle with the wheel turned 90 degrees. The Stinger spun out. I kept my foot in it for a few seconds and roasted the tires, smoke show! I was quite surprised because I heard the e nannies couldn't be completely defeated, but oh well. Second go round I did a nice powerslide catching the rear as it came around. Also on track it got quit cold and started to rain and flurry. Temp read 2C and the grip was definitely compromised but I was really impressed with how the MPS4 tires performed. Lots of grip still and the VSC kept me on track. Overall really impressed with the stingers awd system, the VSC and the OEM tires. I now have no fear when the weather drops to 0 as I know the MPS4 handle awesome. At least while new. Here's a pic of me passing an Audi TTIMG-20181029-WA0005.webp

Nice! Do you have any more pictures, or video's?

I had some in car video but it's terrible, my camera angle was all wrong... I'll be better prepared next year.

If it’s worth anything post it up! I’ve had bad angles but good info in videos.

Lol, its real bad. I don't wanna hijack this thread but I used a 3 suction cup mount attached to my sunroof but it disdid hang low enough so all I got was rearview mirror and the dash. Can't even see the track out the windshield. And that was the last session cause my camera was dead and I had to charge it via the USB port which is no better than a trickle charger.:(

To add to my earlier post about how bad it is if you manage to push a car like this beyond the limits.. I did that on Sunday, had an a*hole in a truck tailgating me as I enjoyed a leisurely 45-50mph cruise down a twisty 35-mph-limit road, which came to a more than 90-degree left-hand curve (coming from top-right towards the creek). I lived in this area for 20 years, ride sport motorcyles and drive other "sporty" cars, so I know this road well. So with mr.Dodge still on my tail, I continued on at around 50mph into this curve. I did not see the truck again, there is a good chance it ended up in that creek because after enjoying the rest of the best parts of this road, I slowed way down, and no traffic came up behind me.

However, the point to this post is, the Stinger did break completely loose right around where the M in Mill is after the left hand curve. It was perfectly predictable and controllable, although the weight did make recovery a little more exciting than I've experienced before and I'm sure the computer wizardry helped.

If I'd had a passenger, I think I'd still be cleaning the seat...

I’ve been finding the 19’ with LSD was a lot more fun and predictable than the 18’ w/o. I’ve had a lot of fast cars and have some training... but the ESC works very well on the 18”. I prefer to have more control over my ride, however.

With 19’ I walked it sideways for about 45 feet before banking it the opposite way to enter a side street with the salesman. There’s not much hope of that precision without LSD - at least with my experience.

Never drove an AWD to see how it was.
