people are complete dirtbags!!! Luckily I think the negative camber of the rear wheel saved me from any damage!!! Looks like the bottom of the cart hit the wheel and not the car

It was probably wind-blown. I doubt anyone pushed it to make contact with your HCR. From now on, choose your parking spot more judiciously!

If people did what they should...put the cart away then this wouldn't happen.. My wife is brutal with people when she sees them just leaving a cart by her car

looks deliberate to me. they saw a beautiful, new, red car and took aim.

I mean, he did park it under the lamp post, where there may be a camera :p

BASTARDS. How hard is it to return the trolley?? Australians are the same.

Very optimistic there Merlin. If they had returned it to the trolley bay, this shouldn't happen.

The only safe place to park. Getting to and from though is a real b****.

Someone named "rao" became famous on legacygt.com for saying: "the only way not to damage the car in any way is to never drive it" (or something to that effect).

I once pulled into a lot to see a shiny new Corvette, which had been carefully parked, planters to the front and right, as you all would advise. It was surrounded on its left and rear sides by 4 carts. That didn't happen by accident. It was at the other end of the lot where the local high school kids gathered at the fast food place, and I'll bet they were all sitting at a window booth watching in anticipation of seeing the owner's response. Careful parking only served as a temptation for the carless/jealous local hooligans.

But I ask again, what kind of hinterlands do you guys live in that there's a choice of where to park? I circled the lot at Trader Joe's yesterday for 10 minutes, competing with 6 or 8 other drivers, before a parking space opened up, and I was glad to get it even though is was under a messy tree between two SUVs.

So if you park in the north forty I don’t think anyone is gonna go that distance to jack with your car. If they want to look at your car chances are they will drive by then walk. I have a 2012 Charger with one ding, call me lucky.

Yeah - CA's not like other places... (NorCal here)

That is so frustrating. I absolutely hate driving and parking in a grocery store parking lot. Most of the damage to my cars have happened at grocery stores as well. Twice I have watched people drive directly into my car and many other times even when I park, even when as far as possible and in the best spots, I will come back to dings in my paint. Hopefully, the damage is not too bad here and can easily be buffed out. You might even be able to repair it yourself. I find myself bringing my carts in after shopping because I am a car guy and would feel terrible if I wrecked someones car. It is unfortunate that other people do not feel the same way.

Canadians are lazy for this as well. It's even more fantastic when they park a cart between two cars right next to the cart corral. Really?! I swear people here are so skinny they might actually die from weight loss walking that extra 15 steps.

Got lucky, the negative camber of the rear wheel was just enough that the bottom of the cart hit toward the bottom of the wheel and just kept it off the car, and the rubber protector on the bottom of the cart saved any damage to the wheel....so I guess I’m “lucky” the cart hit the car where it did
