I've just replaced the second tire taken out by road hazards in less than 10 months and 10k miles. That's pretty much $700 right out of my pocket.

No, I didn't get the wheel and tire coverage when I leased this car. I've bought it before and didn't use it, so I opted this time not to get it. Wouldn't you know it, I could have used it twice by now. I just didn't realize how vulnerable these 19" wheels and tires would be. Looking at them now, I see the wheels are just 2.5" above the road. Just two and a half inches between your wheels and the concrete flying by at 70mph.

I WILL say this - Kia Roadside Service is good. Within a little more than an hour we were back on the road. Of course, I then had to go get the tire bought and mounted, but Roadside Service was as good as one could expect.

No more big wheels and low-profile tires for me.

When I wore out the stock PS 4s, I got new tires from Discount Tire. For the first time, I got their "certificates" or whatever, because I was paranoid I would lose one of these super thin, relatively expensive tires. A week later I got an unpatchable hole due to being near the sidewall. Paid for itself right then and there. I wouldn't get a tire protection package from a dealer, but I would from some place like DT.

I only bought the Stinger because of the roads where I live (Vegas) being in good condition. These rims wouldn't have lasted a month where I used to live, in upstate NY [potholes and generally old/crap roads].

(You can go up to a 45 sidewall on 19s - no problem on stock height - extra cushion )

The amount of rubber running 19s would be 3.5", not 2.5". (26 tire diameter-19 wheel diameter)/2 = 3.5.

Discout Tire is great, I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for tires.

I have always got my tires from DT. Their certificates are great - definitely worth the $20 or so. I hit a deer one time and lost a tire that already had 30,000 miles on it. They covered the replacement 100%, I only paid the installation and disposal charges.

There's a reason I preemptively downsized to 18" wheels, 1. the ride quality is better. 2. The roads in new england suck. I'm also running tires with an outside diameter 26.7 instead of 26 just to give it a little more sidewall.

btw the aspect ratio is just that, a ratio, specifically of the sidewall compared to the width of the tire. it's a meaningless number without the treadwidth listed. you can't just run "a 45 sidewall" on a staggered set of tires you'll end up with 2 completely different outside diameters.
