I've just replaced the second tire taken out by road hazards in less than 10 months and 10k miles. That's pretty much $700 right out of my pocket. 
No, I didn't get the wheel and tire coverage when I leased this car. I've bought it before and didn't use it, so I opted this time not to get it. Wouldn't you know it, I could have used it twice by now. I just didn't realize how vulnerable these 19" wheels and tires would be. Looking at them now, I see the wheels are just 2.5" above the road. Just two and a half inches between your wheels and the concrete flying by at 70mph.
I WILL say this - Kia Roadside Service is good. Within a little more than an hour we were back on the road. Of course, I then had to go get the tire bought and mounted, but Roadside Service was as good as one could expect.
No more big wheels and low-profile tires for me.
