The sadest of days.......

42500 he did get it for free . The only one who's going to make out on that deal is the insurance Company 42500 Bummer sorry for your loss . If they're selling them now at 42500 I think the resale is going to suck , after three years or whatever . GT 2 AWD Vacaville California they have two at 47000 , yes I should have waited a little bit longer and looked at the dealers in Arkansas I will enjoy what I got just gonna drive it and enjoy it we love it .

That price was pretty lucky, in CO most of them sell over MSRP. I happened to find a dealer in Arkansas that was a test market so it had a crazy $6500 discount when financed through Kia, and the dealership was just bought by another local one so they were liquidating their inventory so they had a $3500 dealer discount, so they were selling it just over invoice. The combination made it a truly bonkers deal.

Hey, I'm in Colorado as well, same color combo too. That sucks about the damage your car took, I am in Boulder quite often and was glad I wasn't there last night. Did get some golf ball sized hail in my area but was garaged. Why wasn't yours in the garage? Just curious since you're parked outside one.

Edit: *Re-read your post and saw that you were moving*
Ya, just crazy unlucky timing. My car spent a total of about 12 hours outside, today I get into my new place and it would have been right back into the garage.

So sad, what city did it get damaged in? I know Louisville / Boulder got hit ridiculously hard.

Awful. I know how you feel with massive hail damage on a new car. Do you not have full replacement insurance? Either a new car or the full price paid if there is a write off within the first two years?

I don't get it, people that live in areas where you can get hail like this... how are they protecting their cars if they don't have a garage? I'm envisioning some pop up canopy like thing might work, but i'm sure with wind that would be an issue.

I have full coverage, but I don't think I have full replacement :(

Sounds like pretty good insurance right about now.

Hail like that is super rare here, last storm that was similar was ~15 years ago. But ya if your car isn't in a garage it was destroyed. Makes it extra fun finding a body shop right now! Annoys me to no end that my car wasn't in the garage so that I could save a couple hundred dollars on the movers (pulling all my stuff out of the garage instead of the rest of the house just saves them an hour or two of time at ~$100 an hour), but the net result of trying to save a few hundred bucks was my car was unprotected for one night, and it just happened to get absolutely shit on that night, likely costing me thousands, and at the very least my $500 deductible...........infuriating.

My sympathies for your awful experience. Have you called your insurance company, are you covered? Is this an AoG? I’m so sorry. It really hurts seeing that but glad you’re OK.

Yeah so sorry to hear that. It is devastating. I can feel your pain. I hope/pray your insurance takes care of this.

I am in Denver too. Superior Kia(Arkansas) had this car on a Balloon program(kia finance). When I saw this color on their website I was really tempted to buy the very same car but I wasn't too sure about the Balloon program.

I am covered, no AoG...thank god!

Ya could have been worse, can't imagine the people that were stuck on the road in that storm!

Woohoo.. fame and (hopefully) fortune.

I've seen hail less than a dozen times in 25 years living here, and never had anything bad enough to cause damage, but there have been many times when other areas in the city did. Hail isn't like rain - it's virtually impossible to predict, and rarely covers a large area because of the combination of conditions needed for it to form. Large hail like this is incredibly rare, like getting hit by lightning..

.. which I was on Saturday. Have most of a tree laying across half of my yard. I wasn't here when it was hit and exploded, dark when I got home, so I couldn't understand why the dogs were so restless and acting weird. Went out with a flashlight and ...

Yikes! I have had a few lightning strikes pretty close, but nothing in my yard. That is crazy! I assume no one was hurt?

Dude that is horrible, just focus on the fact that it will be fixed and it will look perfect to everyone else and that this wasn't from an accident. Also, focus on the fact that it could have been worse if you were driving while it happened and the fact that you got an incredible deal on it so you will be able to recover when the time comes. I know it stinks I am a type A personality and this would bother me too but you have a lot of positives going for you and that color is awesome and I think rare as I haven't see any of that color in a GT2 where I live in Mass. so that will help with resale too.

Colorado is really piling it on right now. It has been nice out all morning, get the car onto the tow truck to take it to the body shop and 10 minutes into the ~20 minute drive to the shop it starts dumping rain. Interior is going to get destroyed now too :(. We covered it up with a tarp but while driving I have a feeling the rain is going to make its way in.

UGH! Make it stop.

We're also in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains here (a little lower at about 4000 feet), and hail can be a relatively common occurrence in the summer months. Seems like every few years, dealers are having special sales of hail damaged vehicles.

Hopefully things look worse than they are, and once the glass is replaced perhaps a good part of the body damage can be taken out with PDR. Good luck and hope you are back on the road soon ...

Thanks! I would also take it being totaled and insurance writing me a check for the value of it :) Since I paid $10k under MSRP I would end up making a nice profit on it lol. Then I could just go out and buy a new one. Seems pretty unlikely though, pretty crazy value to total. Maybe if this mid-tow storm destroys the interior now as well.

You got a good deal but you did not share with us. That's why God doesn't like you.

My friend in CO got hit by this storm too. Sorry about your baby man, that is heart breaking.
