Here is a look at the face-lift on the BMW 5 series:

A closer look:

BMW have now added USB C port and Android Auto support. I have to say though, the interior doesn’t look as nice as the new G80. What I find interesting is that they pointed out that the seat with Sensatec is perforated, can only imagine what they will charge you for that and the next level up material. It’s a nice face lift but I think the new Genesis vehicles looks more luxurious.

I really dislike the new front grill designs they are going with... and the "joystick" shifter has to die

Lol! It took me a bit to get used to the joystick shifter in the 2010 535 M-Sport, in manual mode the up and downshift was reversed compared to other vehicles with a manumatic shit system. I’ll give them some credit to reducing the piano black to the small portion for the buttons around the shifter. That really needs to go away. It’s nice to see they are doing an M-Sport with the plug-in hybrid system. I think Genesis will also have something in this arena as well.

The Stinger could use a Hybrid or PHEV power train as well with that 2.5T as the ICE portion of the drivetrain. Offer 3 engine choices, 2.5T, 2.5T hybrid and 3.5T, so there is an option for a sporty hybrid.

they seem to be reverting to the pre Bangle era of all the cars looking the same just bigger or smaller , the 3 ,5 , 6 and 7 all look the same to me

Oh hell no!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
^ There going to need a hybrid, if not a full-electric for the Stinger to remain viable in the Euro market.

Always loved the clean (but aggressive) look of BMWs back in the day, but this is just bland.

Still, what Audi and Merc have been doing lately is worse.

BMW Manumatic shift is the proper way for "sport" cars. When you brake, the force push you to the front of the car so easier to push the shifter to downshift. When you accelerate you are pushed to your seat so to it is easier to pull on the shifter!

I hope that the facelift Stinger shift by wire get a manumatic mode and implemented like BMW.

Also Racecar... older sequentially operated gearboxes (F1, IndyCar) is pull for Up, push for Down (shift) but the BMW one still sucks in every other way

all the cars looking the same

Yup. When I started my journey that ended up with the Stinger, an M car was on the list. I wouldn't give one a second look now. Unfortunately, more and more vehicles are headed that way. At least the Stinger has some character.

It made sense to me as a former manual driver, it was just that you got used to driving other Euro cars (VW Passat and Touareg) that were that way, then get in one that did it differently. In the Stinger, I have put it into neutral lots of times, trying to downshift because of the joystick shifter and the BMW way coming to mind, in how to use it. I haven’t quite got used to the paddles yet, these days I let the cars handle things. If I’m going corner carving, then I’m on the paddles.

I had an E39 M5 and an E60 550 MSport , very distinctive and somewhat controversial designs ( E60 ) ...................I've been so underwhelmed with their design direction for a LONG time ....................Much prefer Merc and Audi.................edit ......AND my Stinger is faster than both of my previous 5ers ,,,,,,,,,,,,and the E60 M5 V10 !!!

Preferred the smaller grilles back in the day. The Classy Bowtie Rating has dropped from Charlie Chaplain to Krusty the Clown.

Those were good designs, when I was looking to upgrade the 2004 525 with the Sport Package, I had an opportunity to get a 550 in Jersey as they have had it for some time and wanted to dump it. The other one close to home was trying to get rid of a used M5 V10, I didn't even want to drive that car, they would have had to throw in a no cost, full coverage, warranty for free. I initially didn't like the design but grew to like it after I drove the 525, that made me seek out a later, newer model.

Didn't care for the redesign that came after it and this one is pretty much the same. The G80, to me, is the best looking mid-sized luxury car out right now.
