The arrival of new cars in dealer showrooms this year range from your typical, run-of-the-mill Toyota Prius to something a little more extra, such as the newest model BMW M3. But with a $65,000 price tag, this may not be the most financially suitable option, unless you’re sleeping in a bed full of money. Therefore, I present to you the Underdog: The 2018 Kia Stinger.

Now, how could a car brand such as Kia, bring forth what may possibly be the greatest car of 2018? “Isn’t that the car with the giant hamsters?” Yes, in fact it is. But we’re not talking about the Kia Soul, which if we’re honest; isn’t exactly the most appealing car to the modern day buyer. Unless you’re looking for a car for your daughter, I doubt you’ll be looking at the Soul. Regardless. The base model of the vehicle is a 2.0L, turbocharged four cylinder model, bringing us a modest 255 horsepower. "Dangerous" is a terrible word to use in a review. Very irresponsible.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Oh, I'm not worried. ;)

I'm just relating my immediate reaction: "a reviewer calling a car dangerous?!" It's not a Corvair or a Pinto. And I'd say the same thing if it were about a car I hate (Prius?). Although, if they said it about a Prius, I'd figure it was about the batteries or the charging system. Anyway, I can't help how it struck me. Maybe I'm a grumpy old fart.

Here is one thing I’ve noticed lately with the press. They conjure up statements that the Stinger is a competitor to the M3, the average joe gets riled up that this car is crap and can’t compete. When in fact the KIA folks presented it as a GT car to compete with the 4 series GC, A5 Sportback, etc.. at that level it competes quite well on performance and price, on the GT trim, the 2.0T is class competitive on price but in the US market we lack some equipment and it could do with a bit more performance.

If folks really take this car for a drive, instead of reading articles and commenting online, they would see how great a car it is. Not just for a KIA (as folks like to say) but as a car. I would like them to drop another car, say the Forte (since it’s due for a redesign) or an entirely new CUV/SUV in which they blow the established brands competing brands away on performance (with performance matching their Sport versions) while offering comparable amenities at a better price. Then do a sportier version that just crushes them and be reliable with a great warranty to boot. Then watch how the brand snobs react. LOL!

I agree, it's ridiculous. It's half-brained reporters that just don't get it. Why don't they compare the Stinger to the Lamborghini while they're at it? Speaking of the next generation Kia Forte:
