Currently in the market for a vehicle, based on style alone went to test drive the 2018 Stinger GT Limited and it blew me away, I’m hooked, I want one, will be visiting the same dealership to purchase one. Any advice on most important addons to purchase from the dealer (additional protection plans, tints, rust proofing, etc..)?

I turned down all the extra insurance options. Because I take care of my cars, I figure it's cheaper to self-insure. I've saved thousands of dollars over the years by not buying extra options and I've never needed any of the plans I turned down.

welcome and congrats. great choice. as for add-ons, that is a personal view, but, the mrs and I, when offered these plans, declined. the price quoted to have our stinger tinted was double what i paid for. and, the tinting company has a lifetime warranty on the tint. the gps/alarm option, again, the installation of a viper system, including what i paid for a three year plan, was still cheaper. figure the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty that is included with the car is more than enough. if it isn't, then honestly, the car isn't worth the money. but, if you beat on your car, then go for it, for peace of mind.

I paid an extra $2,000 to 'wrap' the bumper-to-bumper coverage around the 10/100 power-train warranty.
Ended up with a 10 year / 150,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
I figured with a first year model, and the number of electronics in this car, that it was worth it to have everything covered.

Yeah i extended the warranty to 10 years bumper to bumper (Canadians only get 5 year powertrain standard) because i plan to keep this car for a long time.

I got the undercoat, but not from the dealer. A third party place did it for 1/3 the price the dealer wanted for it.

Welcome to the hive and you'll find plenty of like-minded enthusiasts who are also very helpful and friendly on this forum! You'll find a wealth of info on a purchase, lease, and strategies/options for both! :)

I learned my lesson not to get the addons from the dealer, though I suppose it can be nice to include it in your financing.

Have you thought about winter tires for the fall?

Where are you located and what vehicle would the Stinger replace?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. What might the Stinger be replacing for you?

Thanks for the warm welcome and all your feedback, was looking at including the electronic rust module, invisible front bra (for rock chips) and the tints but Thanks to your comments, maybe go aftermarket for the tints and possibly add on the extended warranty on the electronics. We’re in Southwestern Ontario, winters aren’t too bad but definitely would look into snow tires. Stinger will be replacing VW Passat (diesel); will miss the gas mileage but looking forward to more enjoyable commutes

Southern Ontario here as well. The only extras I got was extended warranty and Paint protection. Talk to them and they will offer great savings. Kia wants to sell these cars like crazy! Tint, price out somewhere else. As for accessories they are almost all on back order.. Rubber mats and trunk tray. I am so leaning towards mud guards but its not even an option up here. May have to order from the US.

Order is in; only isssue is locating a Ghost Grey GT Limited, might have to compromise on colour choice as KIA only allocated 200 Stingers for the Canadian market, anyone know if this is the case?

Enclosing interior/exterior colour combination available from dealership

Any dealer will /can pull a car from another dealer for you , probably one out there for you , its a great color !

What options you go for should depend on how long you think you’ll keep this car. Seeing that I kept my last car for 15 years, this stinger will be kept for long term. As such, I got the extended warranty (additional 5 yrs, which is also transferable), the rust proofing, leather proofing, paint protection (as those are lifetime warranties), and tire protection.

You can get quality tints for much cheaper through 3rd party. Kia dealers will not have any of the accessories you want as they’re back ordered. Much faster for you to just order them online (I’d still be waiting for my mats!). That’s about it. Anything else you’re looking at the 3rd party market.

I took my car in to do the TSB last week and everyone was asking what the “E” stood for. C’mon Kia employees, it doesn’t take much effort to research your own products.

Funny you should mention kia employees, I had an incident where I wanted to purchase several parts so I can modify them for the Mrs stinger. Suffice it to say, I got 12 phone calls either trying to sell me a stinger or trying to buy our limited from us. I told them I would take 10 grand over the price i paid, the Mrs wasn't happy. Anyway, got a phone call after I complained to kia n.a., lady apologized, blah blah blah, then asked me if I was looking for the "e" or the "k" badge and what they meant. Spent 45 minutes as she asked me questions about the badges. Honestly, you would think they would've done research or check out a forum, such as ours (I may add), ok, lost my train of thought. Damn I'm old, where is the Mrs, hmm, out racing the stinger again. Oh yeah, told the kia lady that the "e" was for excellent and the "k" was for kowabungaaaa!!!!!

Quick update, there was some confusion on shipping information from Korea and expected delivery dates; my dealership was great, they bent over backwards to get this car in; finally arrived earlier on this week, picking it up tonight. Double bonus, E badges and other swag just arrived (Thanks Sal!!! Much appreciated) and hopefully can get rebadged soon. Triple bonus, long weekend with lots of road trips and having an opportunity to enjoy the new ride . . . . Everything's coming up Milhouse!"

congrats!!! what color did you get?
